What are your must do things every Christmas?

Favorite Christmas movie?

I have 3 that I will stop and watch every time.

1. The Santa Claus. All three of them. 2. The Grinch, with Jim Carry. 3. National Lampoon Christmas Vacation.

Favorite Christmas song?

The classics, of course, but I really love Cheech and Chong's Santa Claus and His Old Lady. Favorite classic? Breath of Heaven

Favorite Christmas goodie? Sugar cookies and rice crispy treats are

Favorite Christmas activity? Driving around to see the Christmas lights.

I make fudge for the neighbors. I sometimes make sugar cookies for decorating, but don't know if I'll do it this year. I have a lot going on right now. I bought a kit from TJ's where they have cookie ornaments and decorating stuff and just have the boys do that.

The angel is the first on the tree, and
the last off (other than the lights, which
stay on it all the time).

Make Amaretto and Bailey's to give as
gifts, plus candied pecans.

Ring with the Mary Bells at Christmas
Eve services. We start at 5:30, and
it is dark by 6:30, so we drive home
looking at all the decorations.

One of my friends has a ministry called
"Hand Up" - and she stockpiles lots and
lots of gifts during the year for families
who otherwise might have a dreary
Christmas. Gave her three large black
contractor bags full of new clothes,
shoes, small toys, games, etc. She'll
take care of distributing these.

I still like A Christmas Carol and Ebenezer Scrooge.... Always makes me think about myself a bit and am I living the best way I can...

Songs - yes, Lily, I really like Cheech and Chong, What a pair!! Don't hear many Christmas songs over here recently. Used to be more in the stores, etc. but seems to have just died out.

Still sell Christmas strawberry shortcakes (not so good, actually) and I was able to get Stollen at one of the bakeries in a department store. The big emphasis here is on New Years and even that seems to have just kind of faded away. Probably because we can get anything anytime we want thanks to improved living - but it does take away from the anticipation and excitement of all holidays....

I watched Krampus with a friend last night. Hilarious campy Christmas horror flick. What more could you ask for? Also baked so many cookies I thought we were going to drown - 6 minute pan rotations with 4 pans.

A number of years back, LL told me that I should decorate even if it was just for myself. I have every year, until this one. I had lots of excuses ... nowhere to put anything, have to dig for it, it's just me ..... etc. But, then I got a pretty present from my friend's family and need a tree to put it under. So I'll dig out on Monday. Either my little ceramic light up tree or my 18" shiny pink one. Or maybe both.

Are Christmas Strawberry Shortcakes a tradition, Karl?

(oh, and if I master these nuts they will be a tradition too)

Yes, Tiganello, for some unknown reason they became very popular after the war. World War 2 that is.

My little chocolate matchsticks are pretty good. Used salted caramel chocolate and regulsr. The caramelized nuts from the other day are edible, better than plain nuts, but nothing to celebrate. They will not glow with unearthly light when I open the box..

I love good strawberry shortcake! But, then again, I love anything strawberry!

Way, way back, we started doing horror movies on Christmas Eve. Something fun scary, like Child's Play, or a B horror movie on Sci fi. Ice Spiders is a favorite.

The kids are getting older, and I'm savoring every second I have with them. I know someday there will be a last time we do our traditions.

I have a new favorite Christmas song this year. It is "What God wants for Christmas" by Darius Rucker.

Musts -

Curry on Christmas Eve

New Christmas Jammies

Watching The Santa Claus and Christmas Vacation
