It's hot. Windows open, fan on, I turn the AC on for a few minutes trying to move air.

Been awake since 4:22. That's when Monster decided he needed to do a perimeter sweep of the house and yard.

Now I'm laying here trying decide if I want to make breakfast or just have toast.

Happy Friday.

Dreary here and rain on the way. I don't want to be "essential" any more. I have to work an 8 1/2 hour shift today and don't want to. *sigh* Let's hope it goes by fast.

Stay safe and have a great day!

I know :(  I thought of that as I posted, but it was kind of a fingers-crossed sort of thing.

I feel you.  My boss and my office manager are insisting we carry on as usual.  Right now, he's being reckless, and I'm ready to punch him.

This morning, for a closing, the buyer didn't come in the building because he's had a fever for a few days.  So my boss went out to the car so he could sign his documents.  REALLY?  Are you f'ing kidding me?  That man should have been told to leave and his closing cancelled.  My co-worker is having to process the documents he signed.  I'm f'ing LIVID.

We are using gloves in handling the documents, and we've been giving out new pens and telling them to keep them.

Hey, Tig! I do work in a grocery store. It's supposed to be part-time but with others taking indefinite leave, some of us have to pick up the slack. We don't get paid sick time at all, unfortunately, which I think is a huge mistake on the company's part. After two years, we do get vacation time so I've now qualified for 25 hours of that, which is supposed to be my average work schedule. The unfortunate part is that the company makes only part-timers use the whole allotted time in one shot. We can't just use it as PTO or sick time as we need it like the full-timers can do.

I'm a little on edge right now as I found out one of the young men I work with and have had close interaction with within the last couple of weeks has called out for the foreseeable future and is going for testing for Covid! I'm praying he's negative.

Trump has your back with the stimulus.  I do not agree on most of it but for you I do. It is based on hours you worked not hours you were hired for.

Yeah, I know that but it would be nice if the company (Weis) would care about their part-time workers even when there isn't a pandemic. Not being able to use vacation time as we want and being forced to take it all at one time just seems wrong. I've never really been one to take a whole week off. I prefer using my time for day trips. I'll have to contact HR at Corp and see if we can get that changed. LOL

Weis should follow H-E-B's example,
and increase all stockers, cashiers,
janitors, baggers, etc. $2+ per hour.
Management has been showing up
at all the stores, to help with the
all the part timers and full timers.
No wonder H-E-B has been named
the #1 Grocery chain in the US !

"Hey, Weis. I worked 8 + 9 hour
days during the pandemic, even
though I'm a part-timer. How
about treating me according to
the hours I worked - like full
time! "

Thanks, Momala! I'll give you their phone #. lol They actually are paying us $2 more an hour for the duration of this, which I'm happy about but they'll take that way when all this is over, or even as they see it nearing an end. I remember my first year there, a little more than two years ago, my raise after my first years was . . . wait for it . . . a whole ten cents. I told them to keep it. Next year was a whole twenty-five cents. If it weren't for the customers, I'd quit there in a heartbeat. I'm actually surprised they've not fired me with all the waves I make going after management to straighten up and treat people right. hahaha
