The World Health Organization's (WHO) regional office in Europe on Tuesday published a report calling for people to limit their alcohol intake during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the WHO, an increase of alcohol consumption while countries around the world are on lockdown to prevent further spread of the disease can lead to "health vulnerability, risk-taking behaviours, mental health issues and violence."
The organization notes that alcohol "compromises the body’s immune system and increases the risk of adverse health outcomes."
A pandemic myth that claims consuming high-strength alcohol can kill the virus is false and can lead to fatal health consequences, the WHO says.
Alcohol consumption kills 3 million people a year, the WHO said in its statement, adding that existing laws aimed at preventing alcohol overuse, such as those that restrict access to alcohol, should not be relaxed during the pandemic.
“Alcohol is consumed in excessive quantities in the European Region, and leaves too many victims,” Carina Ferreira-Borges, manager of WHO Europe's Alcohol and Illicit Drugs Program, said. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, we should really ask ourselves what risks we are taking in leaving people under lockdown in their homes with a substance that is harmful both in terms of their health and the effects of their behaviour on others, including violence.”

So which is it? Is your state ridiculous, or is mine killing people.

You are the one lecturing.

Not a wine drinker, not a drinker in general, but I do like a nice mixed drink on occasion. I'd love to be sipping something frosty on a balcony overlooking the ocean.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office (San
Antonio) posted that DWI accidents
have been significantly reduced in
the last three weeks. There is a
small rise in domestic violence
calls, and fewer road rage calls.
The same people who deliver our chinese food are the same people who deliver our booze. Only if we don't want to leave the house though. Our liquor stores are open.
Our nearest BMW dealer has offered to pick my car up and drop off so they can service it. They must need the work.
My doctor's office called yesterday to schedule a telemedicine check up of my BP. I was coloring my hair and told them it wasn't a good time but to check back. They must need the work.
This shut down is affecting so many businesses, large and small.
How do you like your BMW fnw? We are planning on buying a bigger car so I can transport the grandkids in, if we need to and BMW’s are one of the vehicles we were considering looking at.
I love it. I think. It's been so long since I've driven anywhere I forget. I guess I should go out and start it just to make sure the battery isn't dead.
But I love it. It's a hard top convertible. As soon as we get a warm day, we'll go for a drive.

My BMW dealership offered as well. But I have put maybe 4K miles on my car this year. I do not need any service.

They drive really nicely, are comfy and safe. However in the past two years have reduced their warranties so just take a look at that aspect. I am on my third one. I do think my next car won't be a BMW though. I need more cargo space, not seating space, and I do not like the X-5, it feels too "trucky"

Thank you fnw and ikwtd, My husband really liked the bmw he rented on a business trip, I personally love my Lexus and love the one I have now almost 9 years old and except for being rear ended never had any issues and only took it in for maintenance. The issue my husband has is that he hates the grill on the newer models, now he is thinking a Ford Explorer which I liked the one I had a few years ago. We could afford both the Lexus or bmw, but the older my husband gets the harder it is for him to spend money.

He'll go back. My parents went through that stage. Had the Explorer, a Kia, cars in that class. Now they have a Mercedes and a Cadillac. And are thinking about another Corvette.

A range rover is an option too.

She doesn't drive. Maybe chauffeured in one. I don't know.

She actually does drive when she is at her castle in Scotland, she was actually a mechanic when she was in the royal army during ww2.

I do admire the queen mostly due to the important decisions she has had to make from a young age and through life. It is very interesting. Having to put her sister into a "down" level and also knowing those that are good for the Royal family such as Kate. Hard spot for her to be in and so has given her wants over to the good of the Royals which is a huge revenue draw for Britian.
