Snowing here. it will melt. And my cherry tree is on the verge of blooming. I hope it doesn't today otherwise the blooms won't last long.

according to the NPR virus tracker, NH peaked 9 days ago. How's that for optimism?

Mornin'

It's a dreary start to the day here. When I left work yesterday at 3:30, it was a wet snow. That changed to rain and then stopped. Then overnight, we got more rain. Wind is supposed to pick up today and tomorrow. I'm so tired of the wind.

I have today and tomorrow off. WOOHOO!!! As of Monday though, our store is implementing extreme measures for workers and customers. This is going to be one hell of a **** show. Enter one way, exit another; but, we only have one entrance to the store. Limiting people in. No one enters without a mask, temperatures are to be taken before admittance. Only three registers will be open. Every hour, they will be shut down, extreme cleaned, change cashiers, then open again. I'm not sure what changing cashiers will do. It would seem to me you'd want a cashier to stay at the same station rather than risk contamination of other stations. Those are just some of the measures I'm aware of.

We are at least eight weeks into this nonsense! Why are we doing this now? UGH

ETA:  Oh and now they're implementing senior shopping at 6 a.m. WTH? As a senior, I don't want to get up at 5 a.m. to get ready to go shopping at 6 a.m. I want to get my rest. And the kicker is, our trucks don't arrive before 9 a.m.

I hear about stores doing that deep cleaning and think what good does that do?  Only time the area will be virus free for sure is for the first customer in line.

Well, if you really think about it, not even for the first customer. People can be carriers of this virus and not even know it. So, if the person cleaning the area is a carrier and breathes or touches the area, even with gloves on, which are totally ineffective, voila, the area is contaminated immediately!

This is all just so freakin ridiculous. Measures like this were never taken with SARS or MRSA or HIV for that matter.

There is and always will be a certain number of the population who will be susceptible to viruses while others are not. It's a natural part of living life. It's happened for centuries.

I remember back in the 70s or 80s when contractors started building air-tight homes. It was years later when the medical field decided how wrong that was because our immune systems need bacteria, etc. to build our immunity.

Why are we a nation of over-reactors?

I don't think you can catch HIV the same way as COVID or SARS.
ALso, I wonder if maybe we learned from SARS and MRSA.

The plastic gloves have become a problem, in Texas.

People coming out of grocery stores are taking them off, and throwing them on the ground.cry

What the hell is wrong with people? There are trash cans all over the parking lots. Don't litter! Dispose of them properly!furious

(They are predicting flooding problems, due to all the gloves in the storm sewers. Unreal.)

Yes, put them in a trash can. People really are not thinking this through. I'm sure they don't want to contaminate anything after using the gloves but what they don't realize is, everything they've touched while wearing those gloves is possibly contaminated now. Gloves probably caused more of the spread than not wearing them and constantly sanitizing your hands. No one is sanitizing while wearing the gloves.

It's like people flushing the wipes down the toilet. I'm assuming they think that prevents the virus from being spread rather than having it lying around in their trash. But, it's causing major problems for some sewer treatment facilities.

I know some stores here has just started doing the same precautions too, as for senior, I believe early morning may be the cleanest

and the best chance that they can find hard to find items such as toilet paper and paper towels.  I could go, but I’m healthy and I prefer to sleep in

Or when people are pulling off gloves wrong and totally putting their hands all over the outside of the glove. Don't they see how that totally defeats the point?

The sun is trying to come out here. I hope it succeeds. We got a little bit of rain over night but not much. DH mulched the front yard and some of the back but we need more. Home Depot hasn't gotten back to us yet with a delivery date. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I don't bother with gloves, a mask, or hand sanitizer.

I keep my distance when out in public, and wash my hands often, with good old soap and water.smile

Yep, that's all I had been doing but now for my job, I'm required to wear a mask. It's driving me nuts, giving me a headache all the time and at times, I've hyperventilated and gotten dizzy because I'm breathing in my own carbon dioxide. How is that healthy for anyone?

Oh dang, FS! That stinks! I'm sorry to hear it.

Nope. I don't think workers were meant to wear masks 8 hours a day. It's not healthy.cry

Wearing a mask takes a lot of getting used to. Even though I’ve been wearing one at work for 25+ years I still hate it.
Warm, sunny and breezy here. I guess we will get some bad weather tomorrow.

We have sunshine. For now, anyway. There is a push to get clean up done before storms roll back in again tonight.

I don't worry about gloves or masks, I keep my hands off my face, wash my hands, only go out in public when I have to. I do wipe down my cart and use sanitizer while shopping. I try not to touch things I'm not buying.

Happy Saturday.

I'm fortunate. In preparation for
my chili cook-off, I bought 4 packs
of hand wipes, so I have one in my
purse, one in the car, and one in
DH's truck. My local grocery store
is individually sanitizing each and
every cart, before handing it out
to the next customer. Our county
has decreed that anyone over the
age of ten must have a nose and
mouth covering when out in the
public area.

Yes my daughter wears a mask for her 12 hour shifts and it bugs her too! Imagine having to wear the mask and gear that the medical staff who is working on the covid patients has to wear for that long.

My mask bugs the heck out of me.

I wonder if some are just accidents, I’ve accidentally lost items. I heard that it isn’t advised to wear gloves as they can be unsanitary. I hate to think people are doing on purpose, but you never know.

Lindley, you are very good hearted.

Sure, accidents happen. I've had my receipt blow out of my bag...and the wind was so strong, I couldn't chase it down.

Gloves, are probably a huge mistake. I won't wear them.

Trust me, the jackasses who are taking them off, and throwing them on the ground, are pigs. They aren't doing it, by accident.cry

Probably right, it would be just as easy to throw it in the trash can that are located by the door. It just blows my mind what some people will do

Today at chick fil a drive thru the young boy at outside cashier podium had on a mask and gloves. He was handling the cash transactions. Pulled his mask down and took a drink while never removing his gloves.

That's what I mean, SB. Unless you know how to properly wear the masks, they aren't going to do anything except increase your risk of getting viruses.

I have noticed in the store where I work, customers and workers alike, are touching their faces 1000 times more than they did without the masks. Not to mention none are properly ventilated and retain moisture from exhaling. How in the world is any of that healthy?

It's all just a show.  If you go to a store without a mask or gloves you are judged and given the evil eye.

It's all just a show.  If you go to a store without a mask or gloves you are judged and given the evil eye.

Exactly! Just like the plexiglass put in place by the cashiers. I have yet to see one customer stand behind it. They're always off to the side where the pin pad is. lol

And, if that makes people stay six feet away from me, Yeehaw!wink

Goodness knows, I want to keep away, from people in the store.

And, because I'm not wearing a mask, or gloves...and because, I don't trust those who do....stay away!

Keep that 6 feet away, and it will all be healthier, for all of us.

Masks and gloves, give a false sense of security.

I don't wear them. People tend to stay, 6 feet away, from me, and, I'm fine with that.

Thinking, that those homemade masks, are going to help?

Guess again.

Stay away, at least 6 feet away.

That will probably help.

Ours have a separate hole where the pin pad comes through.  711 has it, and our major grocery stores.

Yep, that's what I thought we'd be getting too. I was floored when I saw what they installed. And, it's not really secure. I tried to clean the one I was at the other day and as I put the rag on to wipe, it tilted over quite a bit. I had to grab it so it wouldn't fall.

One place I go to has the plexiglass so high when I stand in front of it my face isn’t covered one inch. No protection for the cashier or myself.

Welcome back, NJN. Congrats on the upcoming grandbaby!

Thanks so much.  I'm ecstatic.  I'm kind of hoping for a girl because it will be named after me but I'm fine with whatever.  I watch a couple little boys that are cuter than cute.

Welcome to the grandma club🎉 who is having the baby?

Thanks SB and FWM.  My daughter is pregnant.  We find out the gender Friday and are having a family get together.  As soon as this coronavirus calms down I will have eye surgery.
