How do you think your life will change when we do resume? Do you see anything in your personal life or community that might change? Will you eschew things like handshaking, etc? Are there local businesses that you predict may not reopen? WHat changes do you think will stick for the long term?
Working from home will stick since I've been doing that anyway for 1.5 years. I think one habit that will stick is going to the grocery store less often. Also will ramp up using farm stand type stores.
As for DD this has been tough for her with no face to face socializing. I think I want to take her and a few friends to the beach for a few days, even have her throw a party at home.

I’m not big on crowds so avoiding them a little more will be easy. I don’t see any cruises or flights in the near future. I’m already careful about germs at the store anyway so basically life will be about the same for me. Maybe a little more cautious.
I don’t know if I’m going to change to much, maybe making more of a effort to not get to close to people then I do now.
, I believe psychological this has been harder on most kids then adults, they need social interaction with their friends, feel the need to be safe and look forward to new experiences. My 7 yr old is starting to feel stressful and yesterday was having tummy issues and is now realizing that everything she had looked forward to this summer will most likely not happen.
I think the children have suffered most as well. #2 has been coming to us around 6:30 each morning and crawls into bed with us and just wants to be held. He came in at midnight last night complaining his stomach hurt and stayed until 6 AM. He's always been sensitive and a worry wart. I'll have a talk with him tonight and try to make him feel secure.
I never liked shaking hands and only did it if I had to. Even avoided it at Mass. I've been a germaphobe since the kids were little so at least I think most people will understand now. I think, and hope, that people will respect a wider personal space of others.
We will travel when permitted, but stay in the country, to help boost the economy of the U.S.
Yes, I would be glad to be done with handshaking. No thanks! And, yes, I am not a germophobe but I like my own personal space and I don't want to catch someone else's cold, etc. It was hard in prior times to decline that as a few would act a bit offended.
One other thing I really HOPE is clear is that if you are sick, STAY HOME. It used to some badge of honor for people to brag about how they worked through all of their illnesses. Can we have some understanding that humans actually DO get sick and that the world won't end if someone has to call off of work.
I've never been a germaphobe but going forward I will be a lot more careful in that regard.
I'd like to give up handshakes, I've never liked them anyway so if that custom falls to the wayside it'll be fine with me. Same with distancing. I like a bubble.
Id like to be much stricter on shopping American from now on.
I think my kids are going to be much better at hand washing now. It's something I've always pushed for them doing before meals, but they would only do if I reminded/made them. I would send individual wet wipes packs for them to use at school and they rarely used them, but I think they will now.
And I agree with LGS. I hope people stop thinking going out while sick is a good thing. Maybe now there will be more shame about it so people won't do it.
My kids are doing ok with all this. They miss their friends and other family members, but they're handling it fine. I think this will affect them in the future in the aspect of not taking stuff for granted and appreciating all the things we are missing out on now.
Oh, also, I'd like to cut way down on Amazon. The monopoly they have along with how their workers are treated has really turned me off. I don't know how feasible it is to stop using them completely, but I'd like to spread my dollars around more.

Agree on just the China thing. However confession, I just ordered wax strips, Desperate.

Shaking hands with others has never bothered me. I'm not a fan of the huggers.
I think washing hands will be more prevalent with everyone. Which is good.
I can see a lot more home schooling happening, as well as working from home.
I hope and pray people are more appreciative of their freedoms and rights.
And I pray people, in general, are closer after this.
For me, I have missed church so much it hurts at times, so I will never take that for granted ever again.

Handshaking and hugging never bothered me. I know DH and my favorite restaurant filed for bankruptcy. Not that we'd ever be going back there anyway but it's sad nonetheless. Time to start new traditions! I, personally, love Amazon and would rather shop there than a brick and mortar store. I actually buy less if I order razors on Amazon than if I run into the store. Then I end up spending $180 on a pack of razors...

i would like to know where my food comes from especially. I think that consumers should have that information.
One thing that should come out of this, we need stop purchasing meat and other food from foreign countries and support our ranchers, just because the label says produc of USA doesn’t mean it’s meat is from there.

I buy from Amazon, but I love the search for what I want and I prefer to try clothing on before I purchase the item, I’m afraid that after this it will be along time before you could try on clothes again.

I gave up on Amazon over the Christmas holiday when they royally screwed up a couple orders and were weeks late in delivering or not at all. I do most shopping on ebay now or directly through store websites.
I have rarely used online shopping. The few times I used Amazon was fine.
The hugging here in the south is part of life. I don't mind hugs from some, but not everyone.

One thing that might come out of this is more work at home opportunities. Maybe there is'nt as much need for face time as is thought. So, that might open up more flexible work situations. I think there are many meetings that can be conducted with Zoom or Google Meetings, etc. I mean, in the 80's seemed flying everywhere was the thing for business people to do. But, now with readily available technology, there might be more online meetings. But, of course, who knows how secure that really is? Everything is recorded somewhere.
Yes, and this is a good thing. We were in fear of losing our telework benefits because Trump was opposed to it and was eliminating it from the work force. I suppose this is all being reconsidered now.

My friend's company said the teleworking has been going better than expected - no dips in production or anything, so they are not going to mandate when people come back to the office.

I don't think the Hershey Bar is correct.

Good luck finding anything 100% American made with 100% American parts.

I believe Hershey went to Mexico. It used to be in Oakland, CA. We used to take my great grandmother there when we'd visit her in Modesto, CA. They gave tours. She loved it.
Hershey also has plants in Stuarts Draft, Virginia; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Hazleton, Pennsylvania; Memphis, Tennessee; Robinson, Illinois, and Guadalajara, Mexico.
I don't buy Little Debbie! No thanks! I bake my own things and i was buying baked goods I would get them from locally owned bakery who bakes their own goods.

Can you imagine living in an area with a constant odor of chocolate in the air? I think it would turn me off from chocolate, or make me really fat.

I have been to Hershey several times. It really isn't like that.

We must have different odor sensitivities. When I was there all I smelled was cocoa in the air.
