I'm not sure my new girl is going to work out. Her mom wants to bring her part time all the time. Just two or three days a week and only pay me for those days. Also the little girl is just not getting into the swing of things since her mom only brings her part time.
Tomorrow I go to the eye doctor and hopefully get cleared. My eye is doing really well.

My kids have never gotten to raise a puppy. DH and I got our first dog as a puppy but that was before kids. And Buddy was 4 when we got him. They need the experience of a puppy.

That would be a big nope for me. Using half a spot half a week takes away from a full time spot for someone else because it's going to be super hard to find another part time family who is willing to bring their kid dependent on another families schedule. I'd be like, sorry dude. You pay for the spot. Use it as much as you like because it's yours, but it's a spot.
It's 61, but the real feel is 74. It feels great, actually.
I agree, kids should raise a puppy. Can't wait to see pictures.
I only did part time with my kids. I just wanted them to get used to a school setting. Of course I never used an in home daycare. I liked the structure of a bigger, longer established daycare/preschool with a real curriculum.
I wish I had an essential or two.

And NoVA shutdowns remain in effect until May 28th.
Sounds like the people are going to have to take back their state.

This. If the mother wants anytime access she has to pay full time fees. I had a home daycare when DD was little and we lived on base. I had one drop in slot. Slightly elevated rates for drop ins and no guarantees on availability since it was open to others.

I love and adore these kids. They get excellent attention and love beyond what any daycare center could possibly give. I'm also working on expanding my license to take in a few more as my waiting list is growing like crazy. So many want and need care. They like that I am not a huge center and everyone gets a lot of attention. I kind of knew this mom wasn't going to work out super great. I screen my parents as well as they screen me so we have a good working fit. But it's not going to work. I do this to support myself so it IS a business above all else. I feel sorry for the little girl because her mom is only 19, no judgment, but just not as stable as a more experienced mom. The little girl really needs to be on a regular schedule. And the part time thing is just not going to work out in the long run. So when the time comes I will have a frank matter of fact talk with mom and tell her that her daughter will have to come on a regular basis or I will need the spot for a full time child. She is a little cutie though. As soon as this lockdown is completely over things should be hopping again.
I am so pleased with my eye surgery. I'm healing so well. Shocked even me. I am applying an antibiotic gel to the scar three times a day but it builds up and gets all gunky so it feels good to finally be able to shower and wash all the build up away at the end of the day with some medical cleanser. I'm thinking he'll clear me tomorrow as I'm doing so well. You can barely even see the scar.
My BFF is on his way home from Alaska this week after the lockdown has been lifted. He got stuck an extra two months there on his tour. He'll be visiting here in June for a month or so after his brother gets married. Really looking forward to the visit.
I don't have essentials but I'm glad I was finally able to get my hair and nails done. Felt wonderful.

My boys went to preschool 3 days a week and did just fine. Monday was preschool, Tuesdays home with mom, usually swim lessons and lunch, Wednesday preschool, Thursday home with grandparents, and Friday preschool. That was their schedule. They knew what to expect each day and adapted quite quickly and easily. Except they did get sick a lot from preschool. Those were tough times, health wise.
It’s too darn cold! Even the rhubarb shivers..😏
Looks like a mixed bag on places opening for you all. We are open. Attended church for the first time since March 15th. Every other pew was roped off, but we had church.😊
New puppy? Awesome!
Daycare. Glad I don’t have to deal with it anymore. DS has his son in daycare and it’s a struggle when DGS is sick. DS keeps his son home, but a lot of parents don’t. Hope it works out for you, NJN.
Have a good night folks.

Mine went Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, half days. On Tuesday and Thursday we went to parks, museums, area attractions. We all loved it.

NJN, was there an incision made on the outside? My dad had complete eye socket reconstruction after shattering his. There was no incision outside. It was all done through the eye opening.
Twice, because he had a reaction to the mesh they used the first time.

Yep. He went in through my eye and out through my nose. The incision looks great.
Yep, mom is 19 and super sweet but the little girl has NO schedule. All of you saying that your kids were in daycare part time are still saying they were on a schedule and that is my point. There is no set days she comes. Last week it was a couple days at the beginning, this week in the middle, and next week she says she'll let me know. There's no definite days for the little girl to get used to. On her days off they let her sleep as late as she wants and have no real routine. Kids tend to flourish on a routine and schedule. Even if you are a stay at home mom kids still tend to do better if things are routine. Get up about the same time, eat around the same time, nap around the same time, bath before bed, blah blah blah.
JC, because I still have a current RN, BSN license I keep the kids if they are not feeling well. Depending on what they have. A cold, teething, little things and I still keep them. Parents are grateful.

Yes, I agree, schedule is key. I can remember turning down invitations because it would interfere with naps, bedtimes, etc. I was very strict with that because if not, there would be hell to pay. Before they started preschool, they took naps twice a day. But I learned the preschool's schedule and it was once a day so I switched them to that before they started, so the transition would be easier. I don't think young mothers realize this. At least the ones I have known didn't. They couldn't figure out why their kids had meltdowns in the grocery store, restaurants, etc. Schedules give children a sense of security. They need to know what to expect.
