That is horrible. But I have some questions. If he couldn't breathe, how was he talking. If you can't breathe, you can't speak. And in other video I saw, he looked wasted when they cuffed him and walked to the car. He had problems walking and looked like he was ready to collapse. What they did was horrible, but I would be interested in an autopsy. He may have been jacked up on drugs which contributed to his death.

Again, the police should not have kept kneeling on his neck. Surely there was another way to keep him detained. And why so long? There was obviously back up there to assist getting him into the car. It's possible that they were just trying to keep him still until the ambulance could arrive, but I would think there is a better way.

I think he was saying he couldn't breathe because the police officer probably was applying inconsistent pressure and he was able to struggle slightly and turn his neck and catch a few breaths.  But, as he continued pressing on him, he went silent and the Officer continued the pressure on his neck for several minutes after that.

He was on the ground handcuffed. He was unarmed and there were 4 officers there to keep him under control. He could have been placed and locked in the police car until the ambulance arrived.

I know, and that was horrible. They were waiting for an ambulance, even before he died when he was obviously struggling, which is why I wonder if he was jacked up on drugs and may have overdosed.

That is possible and most likely he was drunk and high according to some reports.   But, I think it is clear that we do not want our Police force strangling people while arresting them.

I mean, they were fired so I think the Police Force is admitting that they were out of line.

In 1990 I was pulled out the passenger window of a camero and put on the ground with a cops knee between my shoulder blades, and his gun to my head, while another was on my hips cuffing me.

They are trained in restraining and ending situations.

Had I put up any kind of fight, I'm sure I'd been shot.

The key is don't fight.

A human being who cannot breath is going to struggle to breathe.  That is a normal reflex.

Police need to keep the Public Trust. And seems like years ago, Police were able to escalate situations. It isn't their job to be Judge, Jury and Executioner. And, yes, I support the need for Police to use lethal force when necessary and when their lives are threatened.

I also dont' agree with firing all Four cops where there.  Yes, fire the one who killed him.  But the others were engaged in crowd control and whatever other police work they were doing.    We need to get back to actually holding the one accountable who did the deed and stop blaming everyone else as well.  They should investigate the other 3 and find out what was going on but they did not kill him.

As for the Protests, yes go protest, but going out to destroy your own community businesses and loot them is ridiculous. They had nothing to do with this. Acting like thugs in response isn't helpful.

The riots are uncalled for. But isn't that the typical response in ghettos? Not race specific, but poverty specific. These animals lack the intelligence to peacefully protest.

He was resisting a little bit, but probably more of a survival instinct. To me, it looked like the officer was pinning him down, and letting up every now and then to allow oxygen to get to him. Given the man's state, I don't think the officer's actions were the sole cause of his death.

And yeah, that is how they are trained. To secure the situation. The more one resists, the more force will be used. Was this excessive? I guess since he died, yes. I would think there was another way to keep him down without putting pressure on his neck. I'm not sure the crowd's yelling at the officer helped in the matter. Calling him a bitch and making it about race? That surely had to have had some kind of affect on the officer.

Police used to be able to shoot a man in the leg to stop him from fleeing. About the time they stopped allowing this, is when they started using more force, IMO.

It was painful to watch. But I do agree, the others should not be held accountable. They were maintaining crowd control. At least the Asian one was. Not sure what the other two were doing unless they were doing the same from the other side.

I'm tired of people making this about race. Unless it comes out that this officer has a history of racist remarks or conduct, it was not about race, IMO.

I personally don’t believe Floyd deserved that kind of force, as for the riots, the ones who really cared were the ones protesting peacefully, as for those rioting, that was just a excuse to destroy and steal, they could care less on happened to the suspect.

I don't think he did either, Lindley. I don't understand why they didn't just put him in the car. Why hold him down at all? They were waiting for an ambulance, so they knew he wasn't well. Cuff his ankles and let him rest if they were afraid he would get up and run.

My mom, who was in law enforcement, thinks the other men should have pulled him off the guy. She has a point, too. They should be held accountable as well.

Well the firings aren't over yet.  There will be lawsuits, Union hearings, etc and most of them will get their jobs back with back pay.

So, apparently the Police just stepped back and let the looters do their thing.  So, then don't cry when businesses don't build in your neighborhoods.

I do, too. This has gotten crazy out of control. There are riots happenings in other areas.

I say put a barricade around the areas, and let them destroy themselves.

Cut any and all support or response to the areas.

And use water cannons to break up crowds that get out of hand.

I'm all for protesting.

This isn't that.

NBC won't let its reporters call it rioting-they have to call it protesting. The media is fueling the flames again.

Did y'all see the CNN reporter get arrested?

I firmly believe it was purely for ratings.

Seems to me that reporters should have some type of uniform or identification to run down to some Riot area.

In 2007, Floyd was charged with armed robbery in a home invasion in Houston, in which another man posed as a water department worker in an attempt to gain access to a woman’s residence, according to court documents.

When the woman realized he wasn’t actually a water department worker, she tried to close the door. That’s when five other men got out of a car that had just pulled up and forced their way inside.

According to charging documents, the largest man in the group, whom the victim identified as Floyd, “forced his way inside the residence, placed a pistol against the complainant’s abdomen, and forced her into the living room area of the residence.”

Floyd in 2009 was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a plea deal in the case.

Pointing a gun at pregnant women's belly makes you SCUM. So, no, the cop should not have sat on his neck.

If you play with fire you sometimes get burned. If you live by the sword you often die by the sword. Yes, the officer should be charged for murdering him.

I agree. The officer should be punished for his death.

But, for the media to ignore his rap sheet, which was as long as my arm. And go along with these loons, who want to paint Floyd as some kind of hero? Or martyr?

Seriously???? He's been in and out of jail since the early 90's. A thief, druggie, and armed robber, who terrorized a pregnant woman.

For shame!

No wonder no one has any respect for the news media in this country.

What a bunch of cowards!furious

Tell the truth, already!

JMHO.

The police officer had a record of misconduct as well.

I support the prosecution of these officers.

I do not support the looting and violence.

Turned his life around in what way exactly?   Doesnt' seem much evidence of that.  However even if he was a neer do well, the Police do not have a a right to execute anyone.

I agree.  They are always turning their life around (sarcasm).  But arrested / pulled over because they just committed a crime.  The situation and how he died was not right and in fact horrible.

Did someone say that?  No.  I am very critical of Police in these situations.   Do you have an aversion to hearing all of the facts and information.  We can't deal in reality if we dont' deal in reality.  He was high on drugs, so can we stop the "living a better life" narrative.  Basically he was a petty criminal at this point who had committed serious crimes but I guess forgery is better than pointing a gun at a pregnant woman's abdomen.  That is the reality.  The reality is that the Officer also had multiple complaints lodged against him as well in prior instances.

The Police are not judge, jury and executioner.  That isn't their role.  They arrest and the judicial system sorts it out.  And, I have made many statements about the Public needing to be able to TRUST the Police will do everything in their power to lead to peaceful and safe resolutions.  They clearly are failing at that.  But, go ahead and carry on with your "spin" when being presented with any added info.

How did he wind up on the ground? Where are the videos for that? One minute we see him standing by the car waiting to be put in, then the next he is on the ground with a knee on his neck. Let's see all the FACTS.

Then we have all these morons talking about "defunding the Police". Yeah, let's not have Police. OMG, this is so stupid.

I mean interesting that all these Blue State Governors opened up the jails under the guise of covid. I am sure that has helped the rioting as well.
