Had a great church service this morning.

Been home for a while hanging out on the carport.

Thinking about taking a nap.

Happy Sunday.

We went to Church for communion. It was good to get out and a beautiful day for it. We're going to dinner a little later. Hope we don't see any riots. We will drive around the town center first to make sure it's okay.

My BFF got here last night about 11 pm. 11 bike ride. LONG. I'm so excited. I currently have a loaf of bread in the oven. I have home made sauce on the stove for lasagna. I have multiple kinds of cheeses freshly shredded. I also have fresh pitted cherries to make cherry pie. I'm even going to try my hand at my first pie crust ever. I remember someone here a long time ago saying the trick is to handle it as little as possible.

My toddler boy whom I called Baby Boy, literally call him my Baby Boy, has strep throat and Scarlet Fever. Poor little guy. I hate when they are sick when they are little and can't tell you what's wrong. Although I do love the extra cuddles. He hasn't been a cuddly boy since he started walking.

Wow, how did they let it get to Scarlet Fever?

I have no idea how it got that bad. I do know every time he cuts a tooth he gets really really sick. He's had double ear infections with every tooth he's cut and he only has seven teeth. I'm wondering if he's cutting another tooth. Poor baby.

Lasagna is assembled and in the oven. Pie filling is done. I just have to make the pie crust.

Scarlett fever is a secondary infection that sometimes happens with bacterial infections.

Glad to see I can log in again. Seems there was some trouble with the site that handles this board.
Good day today. New cases are down. I am having a hard time absorbing the rioting, especially in Minneapolis/St. Paul ... Guess I am just too far out of the loop. All of you, stay safe.

Not usually, they usually get antibiotics right away to prevent scarlett fever.

I suppose if the kid gets sick a lot they might have ignored it.  My kids started getting sick a.lot. when they started preschool at 2 1/2.  But I didn't ignore it, I got them in and got the medicine they needed so that it would go away fast.  Strep?  My #1 just had it last November.  It wasn't his first rodeo so he knew right away and told me.  But we were weekending in Annapolis and he wanted to tour the Naval Academy so we put it off a day.  Poor kid, he was in so much pain.  But we got him in the next day and he was better in less than 24 hours.  It's really easy to take care of quickly, and obvious what it is.  Sore throat, red throat, fever.  No cold symptoms.

NJN ~ handle the dough as little as
possible, and keep it COLD. Make
sure the butter/lard is as cold as
you can get it. One trick is to freeze
it, and then cut it on a box grater.
Keep your water with ice in it.

Good luck. Let us know how it
turns out.

P.S. - I use Crisco butter flavor
instead of butter. But that's just
my preference.

Karl! Good to hear from you!

Yes, the looting and rioting is ridiculously idiotic.

Thank you for the good news. Less new cases is great.

There have been times, though, when rioting (criminals taking advantage and looting aside) when riots have made a difference and been a turning point, as they bring awareness to mistreatment. Stonewall is a great example.

Okay, my pie filling was awesome but the pie crust not so much.  It was pretty salty.  I followed the directions to a T but it was still really salty.  And it fell apart.  Boo.  He loved it though so oh well.  I did use Crisco butter flavor!  I will try again another time.  I will not be defeated!  :)

They are saying now that they don't think Baby Boy has Scarlet Fever.  They are thinking maybe a reaction to the antibiotic.  He JUST turned 18 months so he's too little to tell you his throat hurts.  He was running a fever but that could be anything.  We're watching the rash.  The doctor said they don't want to see him again unless the rash spreads to his chest or back or his fever spikes.

Have you heard about the rise in Kawasaki's disease? Symptoms are what you are describing. Just a thought.

My boys used to get rashes from pennicilin medicines, too. #1 got one from #2's inhaler. He just happened by when he was taking it. The rash looked bad, but he had no other symptoms.

#2 has had weird rash like bumps popping up on his thighs. Look almost wort-like but soft and squishy. Like big skin tags. Weird.

All 3 of my kids are allergic to amoxicillin, Aaron is also allergic to Duricef, I think that's how it's spelt.

Rash, hives, itchy. It was aweful.

People all over the country was appalled at what happened to George Floy, they were suppotiv of the protesters till the burning, looting and destroying property took over. They had a chance to bring the country to their side and the rioters took that away from them, that and the medi who kept calling them demostrators which they were not.   They lost the message

These aren't protesters. They are hired thugs. Check out the backpacks and ear pieces. They are reporting back to their leaders.

Mom took Baby Boy to the doctor again. They said it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotic and that because of that it didn't take for the strep. They put him on orals this time instead of a shot and gave him a shot of steroid medicine. She wanted me to keep Little Girl, the heathen, but my friend is here so I said no.

Glad they figured it out, NJN. Those rashes can be quite scary. Good that you said no to the demon seed.

I ALWAYS say yes.  I'm never doing anything and I really don't mind watching the kids in a pinch.  They have no family here and limited friends.  They trust me to watch their kids so a natural extension is that I don't mind watching them overnight now and then.  Little Girl is pretty good for me for the most part and Baby Boy is an angel.  They both sleep really good too so that helps.  Baby Boy has his own crib in my SS's room.  This was the first time I ever said no and mom was a bit shocked.  I said, "Sorry, BFF and I have dinner reservations so I just can't."  I didn't say without kids.  LOL  Sorry, it's just different when you have a kid with you.  You don't have the freedom to sit and talk like when you have no kids.  Mom would have let me take her to dinner with us but I just wanted alone time.  I do understand though.  She's trying to keep the kids as apart as she can so they don't both get sick.  Normally I would have kept her.  When I babysit there's no daycare rules.  Park her in front of the tv and give her snacks.  All is well.  And yep, mom and dad know I do that.
