Good morning, my pretties!

Another hot day, on the way. High of 99. Real feel of 105, later this afternoon.

Wayne left for his bike ride at 7:45am. He's planning to do 20 miles, bless his heart.wink

I need to hit the shower, and make a run to the Natural Grocer. Wayne is out of pickle juice, and Kroger doesn't carry it.

He'll need some, after his ride.

We're going to Cate's party later.

Other than that, I guess I'll just try to stay cool.

How about you?

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

Enjoy the pool fnw, hope jewel is feeling better today lily. Had our oldest grandson spend the night, roasted hotdogs and marshmallows for s’mores and made pancakes and bacon for breakfast for him, now he is wrestling with grandpa and “helping” him Work on the soft water unit.

Last day of the work week. A short day for me, which is great, but also doesn't help the financial intake. Double edged sword.

Ikea is finally reopen, so I'm going to go look for some little bits for my new office.

Afternoon.

Sounds like everyone is enjoying their day.

Jewel is feeling better, still hoarse, but acting more like herself.

I, on the other hand, had a very rude awakening. Had to strip my bed, shower and start the wash at 6:30 this morning because of, well, diarrhea. Gross, I know. I'm nauseous, too. Trying to stay away from everyone.

Feel better!

BTW, hydrogen peroxide kills the stomach bug, not alcohol.  When someone has that, I have it in a spray bottle and I spray the toilet, handle, sink handles, etc., after use.

Hydrogen peroxide will also  kill skin cells so don't put it on an infected cut

Just got back from my parents. Haven't seen them in ten years. They loved my BFF. My dad is a shell of his former self. So sad.

I grew up in a very abusive household. That's the short story. Even today my mom laughed about lining all of us kids us against the counter and breaking a spoon, spatula, or hairbrush on our legs or anywhere that got in the way. There's a lot more to the story but my parents are really sick and I decided I don't want them to die without seeing them again.

Njn, it’s good that you forgive them (forgiveness isn’t condoning how they treated you) it’s good for your heart and soul. Jesus told us to forgive those who hurt us, I believe that is more for our sakes otherwise we will have bitterness effecting us. I don’t believe you will regret seeing them and hopefully they will come to appreciate you more.

NJN, I agree that you will not regret seeing them even though you have that kind of history with them. But to think they will change and come to appreciate you more is pie in the sky, I am afraid. But you are doing the right thing.

Thanks, NJN, for the explanation. I can understand your absence, and I can also understand your need to see them again. We haven't seen FIL in 6 years but DH has been emailing with him a lot lately and I suspect we will be making a trip up there when things open back up. He's in his 80's and I think DH wants to see him one more time before it's too late.

Thank you. I remember getting a hairbrush broken over my head when I was barely five because I didn't sit still to get my hair done. I was also picked up and thrown into a plant ladder and needed stitches. Those were just two events. Not to mention the emotional abuse. My mother used to always say to us, "I will speak to you again when I start loving you again." We were crushed as kids to not have the love of our mom. The whole thing exploded when I married DH. He didn't like the emotional blackmail they used on me and they didn't like him very much. I distanced myself for a long time for many reasons. Things have just changed now. My dad is very sick with Alzheimers and my mom is a brittle diabetic. Her glucose monitor went off all day. My brother and sister both downloaded her app to their phones so they can monitor her sugars. When it goes off they are alerted and call her and tell her what to do according to the reading. She is not very responsible with her diabetes. I do love them but if they go back into the emotional crap I went through for so long I won't go around them. But yesterday was good. We brought chicken out and DS grilled it and we had a nice lunch and visited. BFF and my parents talked for a long time. They love Alaska and he taught school in Alaska for twenty years before contracting for the military. He just got back from there so they all spent a lot of time talking about Alaska. BFF says I look just like my mom. I do. It was a nice visit. We brought my dad a new shirt as his birthday is in a couple weeks.

Maybe someday I can get there with my mom, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. It’s been six years and she still calls and leaves me nasty phone messages. She just keeps pouring salt in the wounds. Just the other day I said something about my mom to my dad (they are divorced). Dad said the ones you love the most are the ones that you hurt the worst. I replied, "maybe, but when she continued hurting DSis and myself, then she can live with her consequences".

Um, no.  Please explain to your dad that that is not how love works.  That's right up there with 'but they're blood....' when it comes to trying to force people into relationships with toxic or abusive family member.

 I agree with this.
