Got some sourdough bread on its final rise and sourdough crackers baking in the oven. We'll "go" to church in a few and the boys will enjoy their "massly" crackers while we watch/participate. DH went to play golf today.
I have laundry to do and will probably just hang out in the pool. It's been really hot the last few days.
Happy birthday to Paul! Have a slice of cake for me!
beautiful day here, it is somewhat cool and no humidity. Storms rolled in last night and cleared the air. several places had damage / trees down.
I have to go out and get a couple of balloons and poster board. One of DD's friends bday is Tuesday and the mother is organizing a driveway by parade. I wish people would stop with the parades. We are pretty much opened up, the kids are hanging around together. So no need for these car parades anymore. Yep being a debbie downer.
Hoping to go to a local farm and peruse their bakery and fresh produce.
Happy Birthday Paul

Yeah, I don't know why the drive by things are still happening.
Ballgames started again yesterday. Here are the rules. Each family must provide their own seating, no one is allowed in the bleachers. There can only be two players in the dugout at a time. Anyone caught violating these rules, will be ejected.
How stupid is that?
I'm staying home from church today. I'm still not 100%, and I'm very weak. Need more hydration and to get my strength back.
No plans. Maybe some online window shopping.
Happy Sunday.

Happy birthday to Paul!! I love lemon cake!!
Yeah, the parades are silly now. Mom just wants a video to post on FB.
Fresh bread sounds yummy.
I’m on call again. Not sure how that happened.
Why can’t the players just wear masks in the dugout?
Happy Birthday Paul. 25 is a good age. We're going to go pick up the new wall mount for my SMART TV I just bought. I'm so excited. DH never allowed smart TV's because he felt the government would be spying on you through them. I have never been able to get Netflix in my bedroom or have a firestick. So now I am massively excited. Plus, I'm going from a 32" to a 43". Yeah! We're going to go get stuff to wax my new car too.

Where does the rest of the team go if they can't be in the dugout?
They sit with their families.
The rules are not being enforced. If it's ok to have gatherings of 20 now, they could all be in the dugout.

I am. I feel better. It's just taking time. I'm not as young as I used to be.

You know, with the parades, mom doesn't have to provide anything. Just smile and take pictures.

My daughter is so silly. And I won't even bother to give my advice. They are planning on having another baby within the year. They want the kids a year apart. So they're looking at a $900 stroller that carries one child. They won't get anything used and want the top of the line stuff. I told her they were silly. They should just invest in a double stroller NOW and save money. She won't hear of it. A year from now they'll be out buying a double stroller and wasting money. I also bought her a brand new swing. Not a cheap one but the one all my daycare kids loved as babies. They've decided they want a brand new Mamaroo ergonomic baby rocker. Told her I had a brand new one in my garage and all the daycare kids hated it. They preferred the old fashioned swing. Told her she could have my ergonomic swing but of course they want a brand new one. Sigh.

Tell her Salvation Army has baby gear. When she starts to fuss, remind her that baby is no one else's responsibility but hers.

Oh, I buy things I want to buy. She doesn't get to tell me what to buy. I just think it's silly to spend $900 on a stroller period much less one that won't be practical when you intend to have another baby in a year. And yes, she thinks she's something special. I have a brand new bassinet that I bought for a friend and then found out it would be too much to ship so it's been sitting in my garage for years. All in the box. She doesn't want it because it wasn't bought for her. She had her MIL buy them one. Then they bought a pack and play. She is going to keep the bassinet and pack and play in their room and the crib in the baby's room. She is going to find out quick that baby crap adds up, your baby out grows it quickly, and most of it is not needed anyway. We lived for centuries without all the baby gear that new parents have these days. Yes, some of it nice. A lot of it is not needed at all. My baby stuff has seen three babies already so it's been worth the purchase as far a business goes but dang if they don't out grow it in a heartbeat.

When I had DD back in the dark ages, I was so poor that the only new items that she had were her crib, car seat and "expensive" $35 stroller. Everything else was second or third hand. I was so grateful for any and everything given to me.
DD on the other hand can afford anything she wants and has only bought a crib, car seat and stroller for her new arrival. Everything else has been given to her by friends who are done having children. She has more stuff than she knows what to do. One friend gave her 3 large Rubbermaid tubs of boys clothes from birth to 24 months. Some of the clothes still have tags on them.
I have a slew of boys in my daycare. The moms have all offered to give her their hand-me-downs. And honestly they were the only boys in the family and the last one. I have bought each of them clothes, for back up, for daycare. I know their clothes are nice. DD doesn't want hand-me-downs. Just threw some away that I gave her. What a shame. They wore nice things. When DD was born I was a struggling single mom. I bought her crib brand new at Wal-Mart for $84. You know, as cheap as that that crib was it saw through three kids. I believe there are some things worth putting money into. Especially if you plan on having multiple children. A swing is a must IMO. I bought her a Fisher Price Snug a Bunny swing. As I said, all my daycare kids loved it. In this day and age I would definitely drop money into a nice crib. The new ones go from a crib to a toddler bed to a day bed to a full size bed. It would seem to me that investing in a nice crib that could grow with a child would be a great idea. So I can really get behind that. I don't think spending $900 on a stroller is sensible. "But Mom, it has a special place to put our cooler when we go somewhere." Eye roll please. NOT worth $900. She also wants a baby wrap for when the baby is a newborn. Again, I told her to invest in a carrier that can grow with the baby. But they want to buy a separate carrier for every stage of the game. Again, another waste of money IMO. But you can't tell her anything. Mostly I keep my mouth shut. Every once in awhile I interject my opinion. But it usually doesn't go over well so mostly I don't say anything.

DD wanted a nice stroller. She cringed and spent about $500 for a car seat & stroller set. It was her big ticket item. She is the last among all of her friends to become a mother, so she is the recipient of all of their stuff. Every single thing that she had on her wish list has been given to her, gently used, by a friend. Of course, where they had insurance to offset the cost of their babies, she’s paying a small fortune to adopt a newborn.

She was given everything for baby. The only thing she wasn't given was a breast pump, and her insurance paid for that.

There was this really cute consignment store in my parents' town in California and we used to go buy clothes there for my niece. They were dirt cheap. Some still had the tags on them.
We got so many outfits from friends from my various showers that most were never worn. I lacked the energy to dress them up in some of the outfits, and usually went with the onesies and put a bib on them so I didn't have to change them over and over throughout the day. They were born in the end of June, so it was too hot to put them in pants or long sleeves, and by the time it cooled off the outfits were too small.
I don't remember where I got my breast pump. But I stopped using it after a few weeks. I'm pretty sure I gave it away to a neighbor or someone. We got our preemie car seats from one of DH's co-workers whose daughter had twin preemies. We needed them to bring the boys home. They had to be able to sit in them for an hour or two without incident before they could "pass" the test at the hospital to go home. They graduated from those seats pretty quickly then used the ones we bought that also snapped into the stroller. They grew out of those pretty fast, too, and we had to buy another set that faced forward. At that point I went with the convertible ones so I wouldn't have to buy another pair ever.
Another item I would never buy again was the toddler bed. What a waste of money. Just get a regular bed and put pillows on the floor in case they fall out.
I never used a crib with mine. I had one, just never used it.
I did use an old school, from the 80s playpen, in the den for a bit, but it was in the way all the time, so I pulled the big cushion from my papasan chair in the floor, and that made the perfect napping and play mat.

The kids like toddler beds. They just outgrow them so quickly it's really kind of a waste of money.
They do, still it really wasn’t that expensive and the baby sister will be able to use it. I bought one for our house and my grandkids sleep in it when they stay the night

If I had to do it all over again, I would buy one of those cribs that convert to a toddler bed. I thought that was a fantastic invention.
It is a fantastic invention. That's what DD and her DH are buying. One that goes from a crib to a toddler bed to a daybed to a full size bed. One size for all the stages. Then when they have the next one will buy a bed specifically for that child. I think it's worth the money and a great idea.
