I'm awake. It's already a hot and humid day.

Screenshot_20200730-045328.png

The weather is really kicking my butt these last day or two, and this morning is no exception.

But, it'll get better.

Jewel has a sinus infection and fever. Poor baby. But she is taking her medicine like a trooper. Her mom was the same way. All of my kids were great about taking medicine. Thank God.

Say a prayer for Jewel and her momma, please.

Hope everyone has a great day.

We'll never get another like it.

Happy Thursday.

Good morning!

I hope Jewel feels better soon!

Good luck at the courthouse, FNW.

I watched the Rover lift off. Pretty cool!

I might head over to my eye doctor and pick out some new glasses.

Other than that, not much is going on here.

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

Prayers for all who need them today.

It's been a nice start to the morning here. Not too hot and humid yet. It's kind of overcast right now so no direct sunlight to heat things up. Although, no rain is in the forecast until Sunday, I think.

No work today. YAY! Not sure what I'm going to do other than enjoy my cuppa out on the balcony. I'm sure I'll find something to do.

Back already! The courthouse was a ghost town. Traffic court was closed due to COVID. Clerk windows closed. One clerk in records. Two clerks in civil intake. A few criminals milling about waiting for their cases to be called along with some suits and LEOs. Benches were yellow taped half way. (50% capacity apparently). They checked my temp and asked the COVID questions before going through security. I got there at a good time before the criminals showed up for their hearings, which was my plan. They were coming in as I left.

I breezed in and out but that courthouse is huge and a maze! I think I got all my steps in. LOL

Good luck to GG!

 Well. Yes and no.

She started trying to cut teeth, which can cause all kinds of issues. Then she had a double ear infection. Got over that. Now the sinus infection.

It seems the way it is for my bunch, always with sinus and ears until they are around 12.

And go get'em Annie Oakley! 😜

I don't blame you for that. Prayerfully it'll be better news than you anticipated.

Well, the technology of today makes surgery on eyes amazingly uneventful.

Not sure when we are going back. They are deciding who is in group C and when group C will return. We were previously told we were group C but maybe not now.

My friend's company said they are probably never going back in to the office. Productivity has been fine, and I think they are saving a fortune with no one in the office buildings.

Here's the thing.....OPM issued an order requiring everyone in the government to reduce the size of their work space. So they are eliminating private offices, building tiny cubicles, cramming people into rooms where they are sitting close to each other, sharing tables, creating open concept work spaces, etc. Now this. COVID aside, do they really think it's a good idea to cram people next to each other on a good day? People didn't stay home when they are sick before, do they really think they will now that they are in closer contact with each other?

We were scheduled to move into a new building configured this way but now that's on hold. And I couldn't be happier.

Even my DH's work went to that. Until they learned it didn't work and now he has his own office again as do other members of corp. mgmt.

Well, i just got back from the eye doctor. Ordered new glasses and new prescription sunglasses.

Even with our insurance picking up $685...I still had to pay $710.

Dang, those suckers have gotten expensive!

Oh well. It's only money.wink

Maybe.  One still has to maintain and care for the buildings and pay taxes.  I mean, maybe some businesses could do more telework but I think this is going to collapse real estate at some point.  Especially in cities.

Years ago a friend of mine freaked out when her glasses went up missing.  I thought she misplaced them but no they were stolen.  I asked her why someone would steal her glasses.  She said it's the frames.  Big money for frames.  Who knew?

Commercial real estate is absolutely going to collapse and will take down the cities they are in.  boston will be a mess.

That's how the little boy I watch is.  He gets all sorts of ear infections when he cuts teeth.  Although right now he's cutting a bunch and seems to be doing okay.

Trudy, the eye surgery will be smooth.  Don't sweat it!

I am looking at apartments.  Gonna have to move.  Finally resigned myself to it and am making peace with it.

Last time I got glasses they had some really cute Vera Wang frames. Didn’t get them once I saw the price.

Hope you find a safe, and nice apartment.

I’m too old and cranky for apartment living, I’d have to find a small house or duplex to rent.

There is a senior living apartment complex here, you have to be a certain age, 65 or older, to live there.

It's nice. Each resident has their own entrance, back patio and garden area. They have a fully private apartment.

It's fully maintained by the landlord, and they come and go as they please.

It only has about 20 units. It's nice.

I’d love to live in a condo or a nice apartment. I’d just be scared of having crappy neighbors.

Don't do the condo.  Crappy, neighbors, complaints at all ours, unclean people.  I paid GG's cleaning peeps to clean the front and back halls this week.

Don't do the condo. Noisy neighbors. Don't do it. Just an apartment that you own and have a hard time getting rid of.

Townhouses are nice. I enjoyed townhouse living.

Yep I am in the townhouse camp, and end unit or a condex which a single family home not attached to any other homes, pricier but all maintenance is included.

I guess, since I've been wearing glasses for over 50 years now...I'm to the point where I just don't care what they cost. I don't even look at the price.

Something that has to be on my face for 18 hours a day, better be comfortable. And look good.

And since my Rx doesn't change much from year to year, I get new glasses every other year. And I'll get 4 or 5 years out of the sunglasses.

Compared to what Wayne spends on contacts, and having a back up pair of glasses, I'm still the cheaper member of the family.

biggrin

I stopped wearing contacts with COVID. I didn't care for the new prescription anyway, so it was an easy decision. I've been getting by with readers. I am due for an eye exam. I wonder if they'll accept the old ones I haven't opened yet It's been a year. Do they expire?
