We had quite the thunderstorm last night. It dropped 3 1/2 inches of rain in about 90 minutes. High winds have knocked some trees/parts of trees down in the neighborhood. But, at least we didn't lose power. We needed the rain, badly. I hope we get a little more, today. (The high winds, I can do without.)
Wayne is off on his bike ride.
The kids are coming down for lunch.
I'm recording Le Tour, so we'll have something to watch this afternoon. Lot's of crashes yesterday! I hope they have less trouble today.
Oh my Goodness ! Texas drivers
are absolutely the BEST!
Driving on 1604, the outer loop
around San Antonio, I had a blow-out
on the right rear tire. I immediately
put on my flashers, and limped off the
highway into a QT gas station. I pulled
around to the far side, and parked.
Before I could even get my card out to
call AAA Texas, a young man came to the
window and said he saw the blow out, and
followed me to make sure I could get to a
safe place, and did I need any help? I
thanked him kindly, and assured him that
AAA would come to our rescue.
AAA said it would be 75 minutes for the
truck to arrive. Ten minutes later, David
from Ridgeway Towing called, and said he
was about 11 minutes away!
Upon loosening the lug nuts, he found that
one had swollen, and neither my lug wrench
nor his would make it turn. OK. So he googled
the closest O'Reilly's/Auto Zone to purchase
(out of his OWN pocket) a #20 socket. Neither
O'Reilly nor Auto Zone had a #20, so he had to
find another store (open on Sunday) that had a
#20. While David was out getting the right tool
(the car was still slightly up in the air, with the
jack stickling out), we had SIX - 6! Yes SIX
gentlemen stop and ask if we needed help.
One even searched in his personal tool box to
see if he had a #20.
All of these people could have just passed us by.
Instead, they looked to see if they could help us.
I absolutely LOVE south Texas!
Momala, that was an awesome story! So glad you had so many helpers.
Hi all! Just another flash by. Sitting outside listening to the thunder. Hoping for rain.
