This is the little garden area I just finished. All the rocks are from the river not far from my house. I had fun with my wellies on walking the river finding them. I'm not sure I'm going to leave the rocks that are in the garden there. I may use them as a design around where I plant the bulbs. I was going to plant the mums but the bulbs will be coming soon and I didn't want to have to uproot them to plant the bulbs for Spring.

This is my balcony from the parking lot level.

Really nice. I especially like the rocks lining the sidewalk in the first picture. Were you able to go out to a river, etc., and select them yourself or did you have to buy them... Either way, I like them.

Guess I should read the posting completely before posting an answer. From the river, got it.

Love it FS. The orange mums are perfect with those rocks. Balcony is nice too. Will you have to take that all down for winter?

Thanks, IKWTDS. It was a lot of fun picking out those rocks. I'd like to poly the rocks to enhance the colors in them. The mums were only $2.99 each. I wasn't going to buy any but when I saw that price, I couldn't resist. lol Yes, I will take down everything on the balcony by the end of October, or sooner. Most of the plants along the railing have already died. The first year I was in this apartment I decorated the balcony and before winter came, I put everything away but the tables. A lot of snow piled on them and rusted them. I really should strip both tables and all chairs down and repaint them but . . . not sure I still have the energy to do that. Besides, I love the color they are now. Hmmmm, maybe a Spring project. lol

Thanks, NJN. It's really a second floor, 2 bedroom apartment. But, it's out in the country so I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks, Karl. Yep, I walked the river to find them all and haul them out. I wouldn't pay for things like that since it's plentiful around here. Just requires a bit of effort to get them. lol

Thanks, FNW. I had to do something to cover up the wood on the deck. The complex doesn't really take care of them like they should. It hasn't been power washed in years and when they do do them, they apparently don't seal them with anything. Not sure why other than to "save money", which is BS because when the wood rots, they'll have a bigger expense to replace them. The wood was all splintery so the rug was the perfect answer.

Thanks FWM. It's nice to sit out there with a book or just watch the goings on around the complex. It's even nicer that most people don't look up to see me there. hahaha

What a unique idea for the
flower pots! How are they
attached to the railing?

Thanks, Momala! The top ones are a distressed silver metal with a handle that goes over the top of the railing. The bottom ones are a distressed red metal with side handles and came as a set, one slightly smaller than the other. I can't remember where I got the silver ones (maybe Hobby Lobby or Amazon) but the red ones I just got this year through Hobby Lobby online. I love those. I attached them all to the railing with one-wrap velcro ties. Super easy and I can reuse the ties year after year. Much easier and nicer than plastic zip ties that you have to cut off at the end of the season.
