Good morning, Good Geeks!

We had lots of goblins last night. I had to break out my emergency stash. We were totally cleaned out by 8 pm. Thankfully, it seemed to be winding down by then. We gave treats to 80 children. They all seemed to be having a good time.smile

The kids will come down for dinner later.

No much else is going on today.

How about with you?

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

Loved Halloween last night. Not as many kids as in past years but those that came were great and got lots of candy from me. I had around 20 kids.

Being extremely lazy today. Need to gas up the car, haven't done that in about a month.

I had about 40 bags made up and was left with about 3. The boys decided at the last minute they wanted to go out so I pulled some masks for them and they dressed in black and went out. One was the ghost from Scream and the other was Anonymous. #1 came back pretty quick because his knee was bothering him so #2 continued on and scored some for his brother.

Most of the kids were little and done by 7:00 pm. They started at 5:30 officially. I guess the parade lasted about 15 seconds because the little ones weren't having it. LOL I went for a walk and visited with the neighbors. All the usual ones were out with the bonfires, beer, "adult" cider, etc. It was a party as it is every year.

Yep, it was pretty normal but lack of kids.

Not a single visitor, but then we're
out in the middle of nowhere.

I polished silver today. For some reason, the hutch we bought when we first got married doesn't keep the silver preserved as well as the corner hutch we have that belonged to my grandparents. I guess they don't make them like they used to. So I moved all the silver into the corner hutch and moved the waterford to the newer hutch. Now I'm pooped and my fingernails look dirty from polishing the silver. But everything looks nice!

You should never polish real silver unless about to use it. Every time real silver is polished you are actually stripping off another layer of silver.

I look at it more than I use it. And I won't use it if I have to take the time to clean it, if that makes sense. My knives, forks, etc., are kept in a silver box so I never have to polish those and I do use those a lot.

I also deep cleaned the crystal chandelier. It sparkles!

I use my silver regularly. Here's
how I keep it clean.

Equal parts ordinary table salt &
water softener/conditioner (think
Calgon), dissolved in hottest tap
water in a glass, plastic or ceramic
container. After dissolving the salt
and conditioner, put a single sheet
of aluminum foil in the bottom of
the container. Place your silver in
the container (being sure to submerge
it completely), and wait 10-15 minutes.
Remove silver, and rinse under warm
running water, and dry with a soft cloth.
Works on jewelry as well, and does not
harm gemstones or pearls.

Thanks, Mom! I knew you would have the solution!

I also wad up aluminum foil and hide a few balls of it in and around the silver while it's stored in the hutch. I heard that helps slow down the oxidation.
