Good morning, Good Geeks!

Well, I took Jack to the Vet yesterday, because he's lost so much weight in the past couple of weeks, and just looks terrible. The blood work didn't show anything amiss. So the Vet took X-rays.  We came home, to wait for the results. They called us and asked us to bring Jack back for more X-rays. So, we did. But, it was too late to get any results. So, I'm waiting for the call. (I fear, it isn't going to be good news. The doctor suspects cancer. I fear they found it.)cry I will post an update when I know, for sure.

Other than that, Cate is coming down to play. She'll keep me busy. Which is probably good.

What are you up to?

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

Good news! Jack has pneumonia! (Okay, better than cancer...this can be treated.)wink

He's on two kinds of meds, and we take him back for more X-rays in a week. Hopefully, he will be feeling better by then.

Fingers crossed! Thanks for the good thoughts!smile

Let us know how GG does at the eye doctor, Trudy. Hoping they can help him. Hugs to you both.smile

Are they finally going after that kidney stone, FNW?

It's been a while since I had any surgery. I'm not sure what they do these days.

Yes, finally. They are concerned if left too long it will cause an infection. It's situated somewhere above the bladder and not moving. DH is not in pain and really doesn't feel it much if at all. But they will break it up, insert a stent so the pieces can pass, then remove the stent a few days later.

 I hope all goes well!

I'm sure he'll be happy to be rid of it. This has gone on a long time.cry

Prayers on the way for a speedy recovery!

Afternoon.

Is Jack a new pet? Cat or dog? Glad it's treatable.

Momala, have you looked at the dollar stores? Or farm supply stores? We get jars from Tractor Supply when we can't find them other places.

Hi, Lindley.

FNW, I've always had pre-ops before surgery. A brief check up, blood pressure, heart rate, weight, and a blood draw for tests. And the last time, a covid was done. They also give instructions, what to expect, get you registered, and make sure all the paperwork is done. The day of the surgery, you check in, get a bracelet, and are back in a few minutes being prepped.

It's a beautiful day, here. Nothing planned for today. Finally got an appointment to start physical therapy. Long story short, the person who is in charge of insurance approvals at the of place dropped the ball. I've been waiting a month, 7 weeks actually. They called yesterday afternoon apologizing profusely and set up pre-approved appointments. They will cover it if insurance denies, but I talked to the insurance company, they will approve the of as soon as they get the signed request. I'm excited. It includes lower body, upper body, and eventually, water therapy. Yay!

I'm planning on taking Jewel to Disney World in 4 years. That's my reward after I finish my therapies and knee replacements and get over all that.

The boys were 4 when I took them to Disneyland, and 5 when I took them to DisneyWorld. They don't remember either, didn't like it at the time, and made for miserable day(s).

 I was there in 74 or 75, I was 4 or 5, and again in 83, I was 13, I took my kids in 04, I was 34,  the kids were 9, 7, & 5.

I remember my trips, parts of it when I was 4-5, and the kids remember going. But we love amusement parks. The kids were great when we went. Real troopers.

I think a big part of it was the boys found it too fairyish and geared towards little girls except for Star Wars, which they don't like.

I think a lot of boys prefer stomach retching rides, I can understand that. My granddaughters were thrilled and go to go to be princess for the day, got their hair done, sprinkled with fairy dust and wore a sash around their princess dresses, they had a place where boys can be fixed up like pirates and learn sword fighting, but grandson wasn’t interested.

Personally, I grew up just a few miles to Disney Land and I liked it better before it had grown to the franchise it is today. You didn’t need fast passes, reservations, just go and enjoy the park. I remember when tinkerbell would fly down the Matterhorn.

I lived 20 minutes away from DisneyLand back in the day, too. I loved it. We went a couple times a year. Remember when they had ticket books? E-ticket rides were the fast ones.  The husband of my friend worked the alpine ride and moved up in the corporation and became the VP and director of personnel.    I don't know her name, but I remember when some woman took over as his boss and he quit as a result.  He didn't agree with the changes she intended to make so after 30+ years he left.  I think that must have been around the time it went from the "happiest place on earth" to what it is today.

i remember the ticket booths, I remember when Disney closed early in the non season after it was closed to the public they would open it to corporat.  my sister worked for Bank of America and I would go with her and you could just walk to any ride without having to wait in any lines, if she couldn’t go she would get tickets for me and my husband, then boyfriend. It was great.   They use to have grad night as well.   I loved going to knots berry farm too! I remember when it was before the large rides, the mule rides and seals. They had awes boysenberry juice drinks.  Their parking lot was lined with orange and lemon trees.

My father worked for Crocker Bank and we used to go on those nights as well in the evening. It was great! I loved the chicken dinner at Knott's, too. With the side of rhubarb. Delicious! The last time I went there law enforcement appreciation day. LEOs and their families got in cheap. That was about 25 years ago.

Jack Daniels is one of our cats, Lily. He's 12, and has developed diabetes. So, we give him insulin shots, twice a day. He used to be our biggest cat, at 19.2 pounds. Now, he's down to 12.44. Scared the heck out of us! Hopefully, he'll gain some weight and start feeling better, once he's over the pneumonia.smile

How is Monster doing? Is he still hanging in?

There was a commercial which used the song, "We've Only Just Begun," by the Carpenters. Richard was a customer at the Downey Branch.

So did you grow up in Anaheim? I grew up in Covina.

We used to love going to Huntington Beach at night with the cousins and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Fun times.

yes that was a fun thing to do, they tried to ban them, but people protested that big time. I loved walking to the end of the pier.  I sure miss that beach.   My son actually proposed to his wife by the firepit at sunset.
