Hi, Mom!
Got the apple pie done.
Got the cabbage done (DH's request)
Got the shrimps cooked - just have
to peel them
Did the tomato/onion/celery/carrot
mixture for the salad
Got the potatoes peeled & cubed -
just letting them sit in water in the
fridge
Tomorrow, I'll glaze the ham, cook
the spuds & mash them, do the green
bean casserole, and broccoli (for me!)
Nice and easy, with just the three of
us (DH, me, and DH's nephew (71)).
No need for special decorations, or a
fancy table.
Made the green bean casserole with home made creamy mushroom soup and picked up the pies. I'll kick #2 out of the dining room later and set the table. Safeway didn't have any apple cider so I sent DH to Giant and they had some.
DS is off school for a 4 day weekend. He was a sad panda when I picked him up. One of his best friends is moving to Texas and today was his last day at school. I requested his teacher to pass along my contact info so the boys could stay in touch and she said she would.
Can't believe he's gonna be 8 next month. He's mostly outgrown the mommy-created parties so we're keeping it simple and going to a park.

Good to see you again chef! Can’t believe he’s going to be 8 yrs old, Happy birthday to your dear boy 🥳🎂🎁🎈! I remember when my best friend in hig school moved to Texas, I was so very sad, we still keep in touch every so often. Poor little guy, I know he is sad, hopefully his little buddy will send him a letter and he and his friend can be pen pals. Kids love to get things in the mail.

He's super excited to be done with the booster seat. He's even more excited about gaining the ability to sit in the front seat.
It'd be awesome if his friend does write to him. We'll see. I didn't have friends (for the most part) growing up so I was lost for words when he was crying about it. Thankfully though, he seems to be over for now. I'm really awkward when dealing with others' emotions so I'm glad he's happy again.

Being a parent is a constant learning experience, even when our children are adults. It’s always exciting to see them grow and conquer another milestone in their lives.
