We've reached the halfway mark of 2023!

I cannot believe 2023 will be half over at the end of the month. Jeez, this year is flying.

Very much enjoying summer break.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Has anyone heard from LL? She hasn't been around (that I know of) in years and I'm not sure if the board will eventually get shut down if she just never logs in. I'm sure she's quite busy. I just hope all is ok in her world.

I haven't seen her here in years either.

Finals are this week then the boys have a break before #1 takes a summer school class and works and trains for cross country. #2 will work and possibly train for football, if he still wants to. He waxes and wanes so much over sports. I told him he doesn't have to he can take P.E. but he has delusions of grandeur about a sport than tries it and hates it. That and he's struggling with his self esteem especially now that his brother is back home and flourishing.

Prayers that #2 doesn't struggle like #1 did and that he realizes that his brother's accomplishments don't undermine or negate (for lack of better words) his own in any way.

DS does the same thing with sports and activities in general that #2 does. He wants to do x, swears up and down that he's going to commit to x, promises that he isn't going to flake, and forgets all about x in a day or two or will pitch a fit about boring, hard, whatever it is if he actually enrolls in the activity. I've told him repeatedly that it's ok if he doesn't do whatever activity but it is not ok for him to enroll then drop out thus causing us to waste money. His school has two elective options starting in 3rd grade - Mozart and Momentum. Mozart is music (choir and instruments). Momentum is PE. He did Momentum for 3rd grade and wanted to do Mozart for 4th grade because he wanted to learn the violin. We told him that's fine but the violin isn't a pick up and play it instrument and he will have to work at it. "I will" "I'm going to practice every day" "I want to learn it" Ok then. That was January at apply for next year time. A week or so before school let out was "next year's Mozart students come and check out the instruments night" so I told him here's his chance to see what violin he will be learning if he's going to be doing Mozart or to pick another instrument. Guess who opted out and decided to stick with Momentum? I told him so in January but oh no he was going to play violin. I knew he wasn't. He wouldn't know how to keep his tiny heiny parked in a chair if you paid him let alone take the time to learn all the finger and bow positions, etc.

I mean, I think it's great he'd want to learn an instrument but it's just not him. And, not something that requires patience and precision. He's not a delicate child. He's very active. Very rough and tumble. If drums were an options, I'd've suggested those but they weren't. Ah well. Momentum is perfect for him. It helps him run off his energy so he can park his butt for his teacher, lol!

We went through that with the Bass then saxophone. #1 did bass and slide trombone. #2 envisioned himself as the next Clarence Clemons but gave it up after one season. LOL Your son sounds exactly like my #2. We're waiting to hear back from the football coach and practice starts next week. It will just be workouts, and DH said he was willing to go unless he has to work, which is good. We'll see.

 Boys, lol!

DS was especially special yesterday. He had a $50 bill he needed to break. We were at a restaurant so I told him to ask the server if he could break. Server comes and ... DS: "Could you break this into two 25s, please?" The look on the server's face was priceless! Oh, we ALL had FUN with that one! DS knows the denominations of currency. He's just very adept at derp moments.

Good afternoon! I miss LL and a lot of the geeks who use to post regularly, I’m happy that your #1 boy is doing well fnw and pretty sure #2 will find his sport. My son found that he didn’t care for team sports but enjoyed skateboarding, golf, surfing and tai kan do which he now shares with his boys. Your boy sounds so cute chef.

We just got back from our family beach vacation, rented a house on the beach, spent days on the beach, picnicked and went on outings. Even had a photographer come out to take family pictures.

Sounds like fun, Lindley!

#2 is starting to pull the same crap he did with winter crew. Wants to go, we take him, then an hour into practice he texts us to pick him up as his stomach hurts. I tell him if he doesn't want to do it then don't, no pressure, but just tell us. He says it's not like that this time his stomach really hurt and his friends weren't staying for field practice.

Went to our grandson’s first ball game yesterday, all these tiny little players trying to play softball was so stinking cute! Worked on our yard ( hate yard work) use to hire it done, but my husband decided it was cheaper to do it ourselves (yay). Going to grill for Father’s Day tomorrow.

Six months until Christmas. 🎅🏼 😂

It’s going to be a special one, because I am officially a Grammy. DD is fostering a precious little boy that she will be able to adopt come December.
