I think it's a very astute observation, and one that I have made myself also.
I am female, and cannot wrap my head around why many women operate this way.
As for the high heels thing, apparently appearance is far more important to them than comfort, or turning their ankles, or ruining their arches, or otherwise permanently damaging their feet, as well as my beautiful pine floors.
Not to mention they can't run away if they get into danger.
It's a mystery to me. Maybe somebody else (Vette?) can explain the rationale.
I'm a comfortable shoe person and proud of it.

I say, live and let live. How does it hurt anyone else just because a woman wants to wear heels? I love my high heels. One time I mistakenly wore the same pair around Vegas for three hours straight (I usually change pairs after an hour or two for the different configuration on my foot), and had blisters the size of the moon.
And I still don't regret it because damn, I looked hot in Vegas that night! :)

I honestly don't wear many high heels. Most my shoes are less than 3 inches. I probably have 50 - 60 pairs when you add up dress shoes, boots, sneakers, and sandals/ flip flops. Is that a lot?
I have quite a few pairs of shoes. But a majority of mine are cute sneakers or flats. I have some heels, and heeled boots, but I don't wear them much. I had foot surgery about 7 years ago, and ever since, my foot just doesn't bend & flex the same. I'm holy 5' tall with a size 7 foot, so I like wearing my cute sneakers and playing up my shortness. Might as well embrace it, even if I did wear stilettos, I'd still only be average
People don't realize a smaller foot has to bend a lot more in a 5" heel than someone who wears size 8 or 9. I am short as well and I'm ok with that. I am also a klutz so I pass on the stilettos.
I don't own a pair of heels. After two knee surgeries I no longer have the balance required to pull them off. At 48 life is about comfort for me.

No, Imelda Marcos had thousands.
You'd better hurry if you want to catch up.
Then again, she was looting her country's treasury. Can YOU do that? (I can't.)

Damaging floors? Here's the way that works.
A 100 pound person (usually a woman) wearing heals that measure 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch, walking heal to toe,
hits the floor with that heal, that's 1/4 square inch, and her full 100 pound weight for a brief moment.
That's 400 pounds per square inch.
It shouldn't damage tiles, but it can certainly make a significant dent in a wooden floor, possibly even through carpeting.

Your feet do better with not so comfortable shoes in short intervals - you wouldn't want to wear them for long periods of time. Even with comfortable shoes, like sneakers and such, your feet do better when changing them out daily. A trip to Disneyworld will prove this.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I use to wear heels all day, every day. 4 inches or higher. If I was going more casual I had some 2 inch pumps.
Cant wear heels that high anymore but I still cant wear a completely flat shoe. It makes my feet and back hurt.
Nothing major. just a slight elevation. Something like a good sneaker or maybe a loafer. Or I go barefoot. Barefoot is my main choice.

I own about 30 pairs of sneakers, tennis shoes for those who call them that. My biggest fashion statement is that my socks always have to be the same color as my shirt. I counted how many socks I had a while ago and it was over 500. At least socks are much cheaper than high heels. I only own 12 of those.

I'm impressed! I love socks! I don't have 500 pair but I have a lot.
I don't own many shoes. I have maybe 6 or 7 pairs.
For how many feet?
Two
That wasn't counting my son's and husband's shoes.
You only use two of your feet?
I have one pair of dress sneakers that I wear for work. They look like they're appropriate to wear with my business suits, but they're Rockport walking shoes.
And one pair of sneakers that I wear outside when I'm not working.
I like to be barefoot inside the house.

Depends if you're asking about the feet I put shoes on or the feet in my height

Yes, probably, I think so, we will have to wait for the judges' final decision, then see what Ellen has to say. Or Judge Judy, she's very tall I hear.
She probably wears shoes too.
