If my STBX gets pissed at me, can he legitimately kick me out and keep my stuff with no notice? I live with him but it's not my house.

I will never, ever, EVER live with a man again unless we are married. This is not the first time a man is attempting to leave me homeless (the first one did). I don't even know what to do right now. I'm planning on leaving at the end of the month, but if he catches wind of it (which he will seeing as how I need a uhaul to move my furniture), he will kick me out and take away my key, I just don't know if he has the right to do that.

I don't know the laws of Washington, but in general, no he can't just kick you out. You live there, he has to go through the eviction process, which usually means 30-day notice at minimum, so you should be good

Yep. Even if you're not paying rent.

again, you need to talk to someone with experience with WA laws if you want more piece of mind. But remember the nanny that quit and the family couldn't get rid of? She wasn't paying rent or fulfilling her employment agreement and the family still had trouble getting rid of her

When I told you-know-who to leave he threatened me with not leaving because he could claim residence at my house.  He never did, and he would have most likely lost, but it could have drawn it out

In many states your name doesn't have to be on the lease or the mortgage.
You are a resident like Devine geek said and he most likely will need to do the eviction process.
But like Devine geek said, please make sure of that because I believe there are a few states that don't have that.

I think that's pretty much the rule Vette because it's the same here. Our laws read that if someone resides in your house for over 30 consecutive days they legally reside there and cannot be kicked out. You can ask them to leave but if they don't want to you, the home owner, must go down to the courthouse and file eviction papers. The quickest I've ever heard it taking is 30 days. So no, I don't think he can just kick you out. If he tries, call the po po!

Thank you guys, for some reason I have a heck of a time looking up laws because so many different things pop up in the search engine, so I think I might just call the police station and ask them directly.

Google tenant's rights and eviction laws in your state. Not on your home computer or erase the search after.
You should be able to find out everything you need to know.

Yeah, laws can be confusing. There should be a housing agency or something like that for you city. Call them and ask. Lots of places have tenant advocacy groups too, they can give you info

The laws may say one thing but is he the type to do that to you? Thing is, even if he can't lock you out it doesn't mean he wont. Then you could be tied up in courts for months trying to make him do what's within the law. If you can get the truck on a day he won't be there and have a few people help you move out fast and be on your way.

Well, there is the Law and there is there is his response until the Law catches up to him. If he changed all the locks, you are still going to have an annoying situation to deal with regardless until the Law can force his hand. I think your best bet is to just continue making your own plans and not worry about what he does or doesn't.

Just don't tell him until truck day. Then if needed call the cops if he interferes with you getting your stuff.

You actually have to check your local laws. Although many states treat roommates as tenants, there are often exceptions when people live in your home. Many states give additional rights to a person's personal residence in terms of kicking others out.

Just FYI - general rental rules in Washington State only require a landlord to give 20 days notice to terminate your lease and leave, not 30.

I do not see any specific protections for "guests" in Washington State. If you were not paying rent or utilities, it does not look like you have any rights. But, you should probably call a local legal aid clinic.

Probably a good plan.  Have your own space - do what you want - eat potato chips in bed.

I don't ever want to live with a man again either. I just want to have my way with him and send him on his way.
