Some of my coworkers have had to change doctors because they became concierge doctors. The annual fee is $1,500 and does not count toward our insurance deductible or out of pocket expenses. The fee doesn't include any services or lab work. It just guarantees being seen quicker. Does anyone on the board use one of these doctors?
This is not really new. In places where there is socialized (government paid) medical care, wealthy people have frequently paid to go to doctors who have opted out of the government system.
It's come up here in the U.S., in that people could pay for faster service, priority service in doctors' offices, by paying a monthly or annual fee. Like joining an airline's club.
