EW YORK (Marke****ch) — Gas prices have fallen below $3 a gallon at 43,000 U.S. gas stations, according to GasBuddy.com, or one-third of the stations it tracks.
And prices at the pump, already the lowest in four years, should continue to fall, said Tom Kloza, GasBuddy’s chief oil analyst. On Tuesday, he cut his forecast for the national average price this fall to between $2.95 and $3.10, from his previous call of $3.10 to $3.25.
The cheapest gas in the country, according to GasBuddy, is in Columbia, Mo., where the average price on Tuesday was $2.807 per gallon. It is one of four Missouri metropolitan areas among the 10 cheapest places for gas (the other three are St. Louis, Springfield and Joplin).
The average price nationwide is $3.176, it said, and the average price in 10 states is already under $3. The total could climb to 40 states in the coming weeks.
While gas prices usually drop in the autumn, this year’s decline is being accelerated by fears of a price war between members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and non-OPEC producers, Kloza said.

I have no idea what the price is here but it is still over $3. The TV flashes cheapest local gas station prices & last night's was low 3s. Still at one point is was closer to $4.

I think I'm going to add Gasbuddy.com to my favorites list. In our area, driving an extra mile or two, can save you 10 cents a gallon. I'm going to start shopping online, for gas, before I leave the house to run errands. I might save a little money that way.

$2.799 at the locally owned & operated VP Racing Fuels. $3.099 diagonally across the street at the Valero. Even if it might be a few cents more, I'll always go to the local store - the owner contributes to the Community Association, and lets us hold bake sales outside his store.
With gas prices going down I kind of want to get out and take a long drive and see things. Hope the prices stay down when it comes time to go leaf lookin.

Gas prices in my area are still higher than the nation's average. Lowest for regular at membership stores is $3.64. Highest price for regular found elsewhere in my area is $4.73. Prices have been over $4.00 a gallon for regular for many years. Everyone here is so used to paying high prices for gas that they are having sticker shock! They watch the news and are incredulous at the prices being quoted. It's like a miracle! LOL

(Which, I can use to blow on the kids! LOL!)
If your average fill up is 10 gallons, saving 10 cents per gallon saves you one dollar.
If your car gets 20 mpg, that mile uses 1/20th of a gallon.
A gallon costs (round number) $4.00
Cost to drive that mile, 20 cents each way.
So you've saved 60 cents.
If you drive a Hummer, 40 gallon fill up at six miles per gallon ...

In my city right now, gas is $1.23 per litre. Down from $1.45. For those of you doing the math, there are 3.7 litres to a gallon. So a gallon of gas in Canada right now is $4.55 CDN.
In USD that is $4.03. We're getting totally screwed up here!
DH and I filled up on the way home from Sam's today. $2.66
