Good morning all! It's a gorgeous fall day here and the trees are too pretty for words.

Mom and Dad are here, meaning DD is being spoiled rotten. Lots of activities to do and see this weekend - every club and group on campus has a game/performance/showing etc so there is a lot to choose from. We will see the Beginning Dance students perform (it's usually hockey boys and it's adorable), head to the photography exhibit, go to the orchestra recital, do lunch, watch DD's practice, head to the rink for the ice skating exhibit, then off to town to hit the shops.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks! It is fun to have so much to do. And when you know the kids performing, it makes even the not as talented kids seem amazing! Lol I love it here, best decision we ever made!

Now I just need the motivation to get dressed. It will be difficult - have to wear layers because it's going tone such a nice day, but we will be spending time at the rink.

I'm like, it's 4 am. Who wakes up everyday, at 4 am., and is happy as a clam????confuse

Oh my Gosh! My DH is the exact same way! I love the man to death, but it is so annoying to wake up so early and be so happy about it. I should shut up and be thankful he wakes up. I am not a morning person!!

Oh and thanks for the merge!

I am so glad it has worked out so well for you all. I remember the worry you had about the move.

Is DD ice skating?

Enjoy the day everyone!

 What????

Who do I need to spork?

flan

Kindly spork the 3 slackers who are making me tear my hair out.

Okay Czech, you asked for it. Here's my LONG vent about work:

I'm an information gatekeeper of sorts at work, and part of my job is to edit, polish and present a group of people's work (including my own) to higher ups. Every day. On a deadline.

It is not my job to DO their work for them.

Well, editing quickly becomes re-doing the work, when you have lazy, ignorant people who refuse to learn their job.

My back is up against it because I can't present a shoddy product.

So I have become the unofficial trainer for a few of them.

Constantly bumping work back to them, pointing out all the things that they need to correct.

I have provided them with extremely detailed training documentation, explaining what's acceptable and what is not, which took me months to produce. My boss should have made this, it is her job to do it. She's not a good writer or documenter, and I am, so she usually passes it off on me.

Do they read the training materials I gave them? No, they're too lazy. They whine that it's not short enough.

Well yeah, it is long. It needs to be long, because there's a whole lot they are responsible for knowing, and they are too lazy to learn it themselves.

So they just keep making the same mistakes over and over. They are like children.

Or they pick the brains of me and my One Good Co-Worker ad nauseam, every day, whining how do you do this, and how do you do that? And wasting our time.

When all they have to do is read the freaking documentation. It's all in there.

And this is only part of my job. I have a boatload of other crap to do.

I DO NOT HAVE TIME for this in my job, but my boss is in denial and will not solve the problem. She's also over-taxed herself, and I can't blame her for tending to other priorities. She's got higher-ups breathing down her neck all the time.

Vent over. Sorry so long. Thanks for listening.

So glad I have today off. I was ready to disembowel one of them yesterday.

I agree FWM. Actually I had a very teary meeting with my boss yesterday, and diplomatically suggested she look at the recent production for these three people. I told her I can't manage it time-wise any more, and still get the rest of my job done.

She said she has spoken to two of them before. She agreed to again.

I hope something will improve.

But I'm not going to wait for improvement. I'm changing my boundaries as of Monday.

New, tougher Blankie walking in that office Monday morning.

I am so sorry you have such lazy, irresponsible co workers Blankie. You never complain so they must be really bad. I hope your boss does something about it, but I also like the idea of a tougher boundary on your part at work. Too bad there's not a way to make their shoddy work reflect badly on them with out it affecting you

Now SIL is texting wanting to spend all freaking evening at our house. Why does she only want to hang when I feel sick? *whine, whine, whine*

I think I am still mad at her, too.

Just relaxing at home.  I need to weed my flower bed.  I slacked off & it is over run now.  I let the yellow rag weed bloom & pretended it was flowers.

Well Czech, in my case, it's still been too hot here to tackle it. I think next week we are suppose to cool off a bit. High's in the mid 70's.

That is good gardening weather. When it's over 85, not so much, if you know what I mean.wink

I totally agree FWM. The older I get the less I can stand the heat. I remember back in my early thirties dragging a pallet of flag stones one at a time out to the back yard & building a little wall around my garden in the middle of Summer. Now I don't even like to get the mail in the Summer.

Did you see that Grumpy cat has her own Christmas show?  It's called something like The Worst Christmas Ever.  She has to spend it in a pet shop because nobody wants her.  I can't wait to see it!

Oh my gosh! I can't wait! Isn't it going to be on Animal Planet?

Why flan? I've read that she is actually a very happy cat.

Just found out that a local DJ has died. He woke me up lots of mornings and then later brought me home from work for a long time. Seems he fell, hit his head and slipped into a coma. He died early this morning. Life can change in a heartbeat.

All the more reason to embrace the time we have and not spend it always gripping and complaining. It doesn't change anything anyway.

Yes. I am trying on a new positive attitude. Never have been a Debbie Downer but I could have my moments.

Anyway. It is still cool but there is this bright stuff everywhere. I think they call it "sunshine".

My brother and his kids are coming tonight. I am thinking a big pot of taco soup. Yep. That sounds perfect!

I believe her sad face is a genetic defect. It doesn't bother her at all. And the folks who own her say she's very happy and healthy.smile

I decided to only run one errand today...to a nearby grocery store that, sadly, has gone way downhill in the past several years...but I had coupons. When I got ready to check out, there was one lane open and the "gentleman" in front of me had a cart FULL of two-liter bottles of pop...mostly Faygo.

Seriously.

The cashier politely told him that he had to take every bottle out of the cart. She called twice for help. No one came. The fool had $50 dollars worth of soda, so I'm guessing it was $1.00 a bottle.

Poor woman was so frazzled!

I don't actually know what channel.  Animal planet would make sense.  I think I just assumed Lifetime.  Where all made for tv movies go!

Yes Flan she is a happy loving kitty IRL.  She must be good natured if she'll sit for making a movie.  None of mine would tolerate it.
