I just planted a BIG bunch of winter flowers in my nice little back yard! I'm now tired, dirty and happy!

That sounds lovely, Honeys!

Oy vey, I fear my Aggies are going to get their butts handed to them.cry

Bonny have you tried putting the baby cereal in his bottle for his night feeding before bed? It helped my kids sleep a little longer. Mine slept well but they would wake up about 2 hours before time to get up. I really needed those last two hours.

It's a nice day here. Sun is shining, the kids all have things they are doing, I am spending some time here. It's a good day.

May do some serious online shopping later when all the kids are gone and I can seriously look. I want to have my Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving. It isn't going to be much but I want it done so everything is delivered and I am not worrying about anything later.

This is the first time in 3 years that I have been able to actually get my kids real Christmas gifts. I cant put into words how good it feels to be able to do this again. Christmas is actually becoming fun for me again.

Rice cereal in the bottle is no longer recommended by doctors.  We haven't even started grains yet.

There are other cereals.

Yes doctors are great. But ask any mom and she will most likely tell you to try some cereal in the bottle. Just a little at first and dissolve it really good. Make sure the nipple has the right size holes.

I had a set of these

They were the best when it came time to add cereal.

Bonny, I do not recommend cereal in a bottle, ever. My mom didn't do that, I didn't and my DD definitely didn't. To high a risk of choking, IMHO.
Babies need to learn to manipulate food with their tongue and to swallow the thicker food. That's why moms start with a little cereal in breast milk or what your doctor recommends. Work up from there. There is a chart available from your pediatrician.

That's what I am talking about. A little cereal in the milk.

The feeders are good for first feedings.

Obviously we did things differently.

Both our kids turned out fine.

I gave DD cereal in her bottle at 3 weeks. She ate so slow she needed something to help fill her. I only added a few flakes and used a juice nipple. She slept so much better. No food allergies so I didn't mess her up too bad!

Babies guts can't digest cereal that young. Babies are not suppose to be on adult schedules. There is no way I'll give him rice cereal. There is no nutritional value.

His first food was sweet potatoes.

It is about helping him feel full and satisfied through the night.

I gave my kids cereal in their bottles at about 3-4 months. There are other baby cereals.

Rice, Barley and Oatmeal.

It's like instant potato flakes.

You decide how thick or thin to make it.

By 4-5 months they were eating the first feeders baby food. Not a lot but enough to get the taste of it and help them feel full.

By the time my kids had teeth, they were eating from the table. I had a fork and a ricer masher that turned anything into baby food. I couldn't afford to buy those little jars and what we were growing in the garden was a lot better for them anyway.

As a result my kids will eat pretty much anything. They never were picky really.

Just in the last few years they stopped recommending rice cereal as the first food. Now a lot of doctors are saying to skip it completely because it has no nutritional value.

Even when DD6 was a baby the doctor said not to put it in her bottle. I did try it once after hearing a lot of (sorry, but) older moms suggest it. It was awful, she was up all night with an upset tummy. Never did it again.

I only gave my oldest cereal in the bottle. She was so sick and had reflux. She didn't keep anything down and the cereal didn't help. I fed her a lot of stuff I wasn't supposed to though. She's extremely picky but doesn't have allergies. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't have fed her all that stuff. My other two I didn't fed hardly anything till they were about eight months.

I think I'm going to watch the rest of the Notre Dame game, and pack it in for the night. Go Irish!

I'm kind of tired.

Have a good evening, everyone.smile

I did it for economical reasons mostly but soon realized it was better because I could control the additives and sugars and stuff in it.

Very cute!! I love dresses but have a hard time buying them because I am short and round. Apparently only tall people are supposed to be fat.

I took advantage of the buy two get one free thing.

It averaged to about 50 a dress with shipping and everything. I thought that was pretty good.

They seem like they are a better quality. I hope so. Never ordered anything online so I am a bit nervous.
