Tattoos are so much more acceptable now than they used to be, you'd be surprised. Granted, not everywhere but they are so commonplace a lot of businesses don't mind.

My investment banker has full sleeves.  I think it's very common now.  And with call centers, IT jobs, many non-customer facing jobs are more open to hiring non-conforming people.  Hell, many HR execs  sport tats. The new generation isnt nearly as opposed to ink as our generation is.

That's funny because DN has a tat of a cross on her inner wrist.  She went to an interview for a hospital call center job and they told her they wouldn't hire her unless she covered her tat at all times.

My son's therapist's office has a no visible tattoo policy. One of their employee's tested the policy out and was fired.

Well I was a banking cc manager with 52 direct reports...I wasnt worried about tats. I just wanted them to have teeth and enunciate.

The hospital my exmil worked at was so strict they couldn't ever wear more than one earring per ear. Mine just wants you to wear underwear.

Different places have different policies. I'm sure some places don't care. I know some do.

I've worked in hospitals like that.  They specify the jewelry you can wear.  It's amazing how many people need to be told what's appropriate and what's not.

Yeah. We had a guy in the or who went commando every day. When he went in the men's locker room to change out of his scrubs all the other men would flee! It was so funny. They said he had no shame. He'd pull his pants down while standing right in front of someone sitting on one of the benches.

I have none. I thought about one for a really long time but I knew I wouldn't like it forever so I didn't get one.

And I have always been afraid I would like the process and not stop. I am one of those strange birds who likes shots.

The pastor I grew up with has a couple from back in his younger days in the military. It's always funny when someone sees them for the first time.

The most visible one is the Marine symbol on his forearm. the other is on his upper arm. I cant remember what it is. The only time you see the one on his fore arm is when he is wearing short sleeves. And he doesn't wear them often.

They are addicting. I don't like shots but I do like the feeling of getting my eyebrows waxed!

I have one on my ankle. Not getting anymore. DH has two. One one each upper arm. He's not getting anymore either. Ours can be covered.

The one I am planning would probably be on my right shoulder. It will be kind of big due to what I want. Not huge but big.

The jewelry restrictions in a hospital setting may be a health code issue. I know that in food service, you cannot have anything other than a simple band for a ring, and no more than 1 earring per ear and no dangling earrings. It's part of the health code/food safety/hygiene issue.

As for tattoos, honestly, what they are says more to me than where they are (except for facial tats. Never ok to me). Someone who gets grandma's nickname on their wrist makes me think something different than someone who gets a lover's name in the same spot.

KWIM?

Yes.  However, you can still go too far with this.  I know someone who has 26 grand children and she has all the first and middle names tattoo'ed down their arms.  It's a lot of names!

back to topic? my 2 cents...i am not at the same place with my person, there is no nagging, no deadlines. We both just understand the deal and accept it.

Yes, if I wasn't a million years old and etc, I wouldn't tolerate it, but for now.....he's my person.
