Yes. it is about abortion. But could it be confusing as to what the amendment aims to do?

I had to look it up to be sure I understood it.

I am not talking about abortion. But political ads in general.

If it passes every woman who lives in Tennessee should move away.

No they shouldn't.

But that is not what I was asking.

The story this woman tells, to me, could lead people to think this is not a pro abortion ad.

And I don't want to turn this into an abortion thread.

I am thinking more about how political ads could be purposefully misleading.

I had to watch it twice, but it definitely supports pro choice, whereas, I think? Amendment one supports pro life?

vote no on 1:Dr Phillips

Vette, yes. It is a pro choice political ad but Amendment 1 is a pro life amendment.

The ad kind of doesn't make sense because she described an exact scenario that would happen if amendment 1 passed, so how is that helping her case?

That is what I am saying. It's confusing. Purposefully.

I don't see the confusion.

From what I understand, Amendment 1 is anti-abortion. The ad says that the patient chose to not have an abortion, but it was her decision to make. And if Amendment 1 is passed, she wouldn't have been able to make the choice.

Seems clear to me

But the amendment takes away the patients ability to choose. Yes, in this case, the result would have been the same, but in many others, it would have.

ok, here is the frank truth. Describing a woman who had an abortion to save her life is not sympathetic. Talking about a woman who made the CHOICE to die instead of her baby is.

The first time I saw it I thought it was saying that amendment 1 would be something forcing abortions in certain situations.

The second time I saw it I thought that isn't what they are saying.

I saw it a few more times and then looked up what amendment one actually was.

Now I am not in Tn so this wont affect me at all. I don't have a dog in this race.

This ad actually pretty much sums up my personal feelings on the subject. I do not see myself ever having an abortion, but I don't want anyone taking away my ability to make that choice.

Well said. I am sure you have many who are going to disagree with you. Ducking so I don't get hit in the head with all the bibles.

Thank you. if asked, I would advocate against an abortion.  But, there are only three people who have any right to be a part of that decision: the mother, the father & the doctor.  Everyone else - including the government - can butt out.

Yep. I wouldn't do it but I have known some who have for different serious reasons. All very valid. My heart broke for them and they had a hard time making the choice but it was the right thing for them.

Well, I'm male, I have all the children I expect to have, so I guess I don't have a dog in this race either ... except ...............

I believe that a woman's body is her own, and government should have no say.

So if someone believes in Women's Rights, should that person stay silent?

If a person believes that the teachings of old, controlling, celibate men should take away a woman's rights to control her own body?

This is so offensive to me.

I already knew about this amendment, so I followed the add pretty easily.
But, I can see how if you didn't already know about it, it would be confusing.
