They are sending me home tomorrow because I still can't get up to walk so physical therapy can't do anything more. I'll be at my mom and dad's until surgery next Friday. This is and has been the biggest nightmare, and it won't be over for at least another 6 weeks or so.

Oh gosh, tlc. I'm so sorry to hear that. I sure hope you'll be feeling better soon. Prayers and hugs, on the way. Hang in there. You are a very strong person, and I'm rooting for you.
Thanks everyone. I'm home at my parents house. Took about 3hours to get settled and meet the home health nurses. I'll have an aide come twice a day and nurse once. At least I know who they ate. I know them from different things.

tlc, I know you meant "are" and were a victim of auto-correct, but I personally think it's a good idea to know who your caregivers last ate as well.
Glad you are home. I haven't forgot about you. I Promise.

I think the auto correct and how amusing it can make statements is worth it! Make you laugh, and that is what you need right now. A distraction from the awful feeling of being so dependent when you are independent. It will get better. In the mean time, you have people who love you and want to help you. I think that is awesome.

Nurse came this moening to do what she needs to do, and my sister came to dye my hair. My mom tried to drown me. Poured water on my face. But it worked ok. I'm laying on my sides a lot so I can't do much except use the kindle.
Had a friend come today so my mom could go get groceries. She had been a nurse for a long time before she had kids so she was good to have here.
I started taking Tylenol for this pain I have when I breathe in deep. Isn't really working.
My other sister is coming tomorrow night to help until Friday. Everything is going well otherwise. I'm going to try to get up tomorrow because the swelling has gone way down. I've lost 10 lbs water weight so far.
Wow! 10 pounds of water weight? That's a lot of fluid!
Keep taking deep breaths!
Glad you got your hair dyed even if your sister did try to drown you, lol. I bet your hair looks very nice.
Still sending good thoughts your way!

I was talking to my friend yesterday about how she found out I was sick, and she went to the hospital the day after I was admitted. I was in surgery to try to put stents in then because my kidneys had completely shut down. Didn't work. She said the scariest thing was I was totally unresponsive. I was lucky I didn't die.
I had gone to work on Friday, I remember going home, then I don't remember anything until Saturday morning when my mom, dad and sister were yelling for me, coming in my house. They called the ambulance that took me to the local hospital, they sent.me to a bigger hospital. I don't remember anything after that except being put in a cat scan. I woke up on Monday morning.
It's scary because I didn't feel sick, just tired. No pain, fever or anything. If they hadn't come when they did, I would have died. The only reason they did was because a patron came to the library and said I looked terrible the day before, so my co-worker called my sister.

Oh my, tlc. What an ordeal! I'm so glad they found you in time.

That is truly lucky. I'm glad they found you in time.

A LOT of people care about you.

My nurse came and we put my braces on and they fit! I walked about 5 feet to the recliner. Legs were a little.weak.but.My arms were able to compensate.
Got up again today and walked about 10 feet to the couch and back to the chair. I can't quite walk like I normally do, which is swinging my legs together, so I'm walking one foot in front of the other for now until my legs get stronger. My arms are about normal though.
One thing I don't like about being home is the different people who come. I've had several different aides come. I get used to one, then another comes. Today I had one that was just dumb. I had to show her how to do everything. She didn't get off to a very good start when she said "We really like your daughter at the hospital". It's my sister. She is head of HR. My other sister came last night and she was in the other room, so she said "oh, so that's your daughter in the other room?" Nope. Sister again. I asked her if I actually looked that old. Then I have a hospital gown on that is stamped with a VA hospital property of thing, and she asked "so is your husband a vet?" Nope, not married. I couldn't believe she assumed so much. Usually people will ask "are you married" or "do you have kids", "any brothers or sisters?". She was weird.
Surgery is coming up fast for you. I bet you will be glad to have it over with and behind you.
You sound like you are a lot stronger then you were last week. I am glad to hear that.
Maybe the aids were just trying to make conversation and do not have enough experience on making small talk. At least they talked to you. I had aids who barely said a word.
Glad your family is coming to visit. That must make you feel good. They really do love you.
Thanks for the update. Keep getting stronger and soon this will be all in the past. Hugs to you.

If someone asks anything about your "VA Hospital Property" gown, tell them that YOU were in the military, but you're not allowed to talk about it.
"I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you."

Good one, Ed.
Tomorrow at this time I will be in surgery. I hope it goes the way it should and I wake up without my huge stomach. I'm getting nervous about what could go wrong. I leave at 8 to be there at 10. Surgery at noon.
Hopefully everything will go well and I'll be home in a few days.
