If DS16 gets ring worm one more time I will start bathing him again. I probably stopped around 5.

DD had ringworm. Our doc said it was the female version of jock itch - but boys could get it too. Does he play sports or have equipment that can't be washed? DD couldn't get rid of it and when we bought new shin guards etc it went away finally. Just something to think about.

He wrestles so it is common, but avoidable with proper washing for the most part. He takes two showers a day, but I am pretty sure that just means he has a very clean penis.

 Hahahahahahaha!!!!

I figured it was an athlete thing. No one else has ringworm. Lol

Ring worm is not actually a worm, it's a fungus infection, like athlete's foot.

The only fungus medicine Spouse is not allergic to is Terbinafine, (generic Lamasil-AT).

People can certainly keep reinfecting themselves if the things that touch their skin are carrying it.

He doesn't get it repeatedly. He has had it once every year he has wrestled. Added bonus was impetigo once. If he could treat it homes elf it wouldn't bother me as much, but it is always in a spot he doesn't have easy access to. Last time it was at the bottom of his hair line on the back of his head.

SO what?  What exactly would or more importantly COULD she do about the Biological Father enforcing reasonable rules in his house during his time?  No child died doing his/her own laundry.

As for you doing the laundry, if your DH couldn't stand up to BM or SS then cleaning his son's crap filled clothes was then on him.

Look, when SS came to live with us, he would literally only change his underwear when he showered and he only showered every 3rd to 4th day.  DH's attitude was to let normal consequences force him to shower more.  Hey, whatever floated his boat.  But that did not mean that I had to handle his nasty ass clothes with my hands.  So DH had to either do SS's clothes or make his 13 yo son do his own laundry.

I don't think you realize the situation.  SS lived with me over the summer.  DH was gone the whole summer.  His mom would come get him once every two weeks for three or four days.  I RAISED him this summer.  My DH was gone.  Not like during the day.  He was gone for months.  I was raising my SS alone.  I love him and adore him but he is not biologically mine.  His SS is not required to let me have him when his dad is not here.  I don't cow tow to her but I also don't go out of the way to piss her off.  Her husband is abusive and hates my SS.  If he's not with me he's with a man who beats on him.  So yes, I'd rather keep my mouth shut sometimes and not rock the boat and know my SS is safe rather than get my way.

I'm old and less flexible than I used to be, but I have no trouble reaching the bottom of my hair line at the back of my head. So, your statement confuses me.

He doesn't have to see it to apply ointment twice a day, and he could see that area with a hand-mirror in front of him and a medicine cabinet mirror behind him.

So, still confused.

The only place he might not be able to reach would be his back, above the waist and below his shoulders.

What am I misinterpreting?

Had that once. Got it from the community swimming pool. It was awful. Worse than the chicken pox.

I had it at 4. Got it from the sandbox in my backyard that the neighbor's cat used as a litter box. My grandpa paid for a fence to be built around our property after that. He spoiled me.

I guess my kid is just careless. I do it so it gets done correctly. If he washed his hair properly it probably wouldn't have been there to begin with. It grosses me out and I want it gone asap.

Do wrestlers  wear head gear? Or does he wear a hat? Either of those could be re-infecting him.

Ringworm can be a real pain. I had it for over a year once, had to go to the doctor to be rid of it. The tinactin didn't do shiit.

When my husband was in high school, he used bleach to get rid of ring worm. He doesn't recommend it, but it works.

The meds work it is just gross. He does wear head gear, but he got a new one yesterday because he lost his last one. This was a result of purely not bathing correctly. That is why I think we might start mommy and son showers again. Totally kidding BTW. It just frustrates me that he spends an hour a day in the shower to "clean". Like I said before, he has one clean body part.

My son got ringworm once. On his cheek. From a cat. The medicine cleared it right up. Our dog got it recently. DN got it on her thigh.

Make sure he has Vaseline and a big box of Kleenex within reach while he's in bed. And make sure he has privacy, so he won't have to spend so much time in the shower.

Lamasil AT might work better. You should see improvement in about 3 days, clearing within a week, if it's going to work.

My daughter had a place on her arm, on her fore arm at the elbow, that we treated as a ring worm for a while. It kept getting bigger and bigger.

Took her to the doctor and it wasn't a ring worm at all.

It was an eczema rash.

Doctor gave her a cream that cleared it up in 3 days.

It was a real problem for while but it has been a few years since she has had an kind of flare up.
