#beenrapedneverreported is the hashtag that has come about as an offshoot of the Ghomeshi scandal (see Elphaba's intro thread for more info on that). This national scandal featuring a much-beloved-until-now radio show host has brought to light the amount of education that both men and women need regarding the reporting of sexual assault.
I can't use this hashtag with my story because of the people who would see it (which is exactly why this hashtag was developed - for people like me who don't report due to the socio-cultural climate) but I can use it to support women who are telling their stories.
If you see this hashtag on your twitter or if you share your own story and use it, please share the awareness in your social circle that this is a major cultural change in western society that all men and women should support.
(yes - it's used by both men and women). Educate yourself and educate those around you.
