Ben Carson announced that he is going to run for President and the SCOTUS has taken on yet another challenge to Obamacare.  This could get interesting in the very near future...

I'd vote for Ben. And yes, he was a pediatric brain surgeon. His life story is amazing. Watch the movie Gifted Hands.

Ben Carson grew up in poverty with a single mom. She couldn't read or write. But she made sure her kids knew how. She was a housekeeper and eventually a man she worked for taught her to read. She suffered from severe depression to the point she was institutionalized several times and the kids were left to care for themselves. First Ben was going down the wrong road. Fighting a lot and getting in trouble. He was even semi abusive to his mom. Then he got in a fight and tried to stab another boy with a knife. The knife hit the boys belt buckle and the blade broke off. The boy was fine. It scared Ben and that was the point he decide to change. He eventually went to medical school. There's a lot there too because he is black and that was back when it was hard for a black man to get into college. He became a brain surgeon and performed the first successful separation of conjoined twins. The family came from Germany to have him perform the surgery because he was the best in the world. He has pioneered several very successful new techniques. He questioned his faith in god when his wife had a late term miscarriage. He has, I think, three daughters and is still married to his college sweetheart. His mother still lives with him. His story is inspiring.

I thought he was. I will vote for him. I admire people who come from hard backgrounds and fight their way up. To me it shows a lot of good character and are very strong people.

Dr. Carson performed a hemisphere-ectomy on my cousin about 15 years ago ( I guess that's how you say and spell it . Basically he removed half of her brain. ) She was having so many seizures per day the family couldn't keep count and meds did not help. She walks with a limp and is slightly mentally delayed. Before the surgery, she was offered little to no hope of even surviving.

DE?  Is your cousin the one shown in the movie?  They show that in the movie!  The girl is seizing all the time.  Just constantly.  No hope for her.  He does that surgery and she wakes up and speaks to her mom.  It's an awesome.  He broke ground all over the freaking place in his medical career.

Lindley, he seems to be a man of integrity.  And yes, he did fight hard for what he wanted.  He had nothing handed to him.  I think he appreciates the value of hard work.  I think being president is hard but I think what our country needs right now is NOT another politician.

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know.  If her name was Jackie, it was. I know her parents went thru so much with her and they were scared to death of the surgery, but felt they had no other remaining options.

I'm sure if it was they changed the names.  The movie is awesome.  Yes, Dr. Ben Carson sat down with the parents.  He couldn't promise them that everything would be okay but they didn't really have a choice.  Their daughter was just in constant pain and agony from the seizures.  The parents were terrified but they had really no other options.  I'm sure it was terrifying.  I remember the girl waking up and saying her mom's name.  The mom cried.
