The Religious Society of Friends, or Quakers, was founded by George Fox in 17th century England. Quakers are made up of many different groups that have actively tried to avoid creeds and hierarchical structures. However, these groups are united by a tendency to avoid ritual and tradition in favor of the individual's intuition and personal relationship with God. Many Quaker groups are very open and tolerant, and many Quakers are pacifists.

I'm a lifelong Catholic but my limited interaction with Quakers has been positive. Very loving, accepting and I greatly admire their faith. In my experience, they tend to be inclusive and kind. Actually, I feel quite similar about the majority of Catholics I know.

I got Evangelical--but I think the quiz is screwed up. I don't see how the answers I gave would equate to that.

I answered the questions pretty much in line with Lutheranism. Maybe they perceive Lutherans to be more "tradition" oriented with their services and that may be where I went off track, but otherwise, I know my Lutheran.

Well, surprise, surprise. I got Lutheranism. And I was raised a Lutheran, so I guess how you are raised stays with your beliefs and ideas. (Not Missouri Synod, by the way.)

You should actually be a Lutheran! You're meant for a serious, traditional and intellectual Christianity that sticks to the scriptures. For you, faith is everything and scripture is the only source for accurate Christian teachings. You're not a radical, though. You tend to have an open mind and you deeply respect Church history and tradition, as long as it sticks to the Scriptures.

The Lutheran Church was founded by Martin Luther in 16th century Germany. Lutheranism teaches salvation "by grace alone through faith alone on the basis of Scripture alone". In other words, the doctrine that scripture is the final authority on all matters of faith!

You should really be Non-Denominational! You've never understood why people get so caught up with labels, creeds, and institutions. For you, faith is what matters. You have a personal relationship with God and you're not so worried about being a member of any specific group or sect. You enjoy Bible study, casual gatherings, and a church where everyone is welcome regardless of theological labels.

I got Quaker. I like the Friends. But some of the questions had no answer that really worked for me. They should have had a "not applicable" option.

But they are absolutely right that I trust my inner dialogue with God more than anything else.

Actually, there is a more accurate quiz at beliefnet. It lets you rank how important the questions are to you, and gives you the top 10 or 15 faiths, noting how closely your beliefs matched theirs.

I was raised Catholic, but it was never a good fit for me.

I have been to 2 different Quaker Meetings, and am drawn to the simplicity & friendliness. I actually look forward to going on Sunday morning!

That is how I answered the questions.

Scripture alone. Faith alone. The Body and Blood IS the Body and Blood.

I didn't answer that one that way, and had they asked about infant baptism, I'd never have been Lutheran.
