Thanks flan. I'll be calling mom in about an hour to see how dad is doing. I hope he had a good night. They did start him on an extra dose of a drug he takes and I hope he has had some relief and a better night. I'm so glad my sister is there with them both.

Baking the yams now. Enough for a sweet potato casserole for 20 people. If we don't go to my Sister's, the kids and I will be eating it for weeks to come. Already snowing...I swear I heard the dog sigh loudly when he looked out the window.

SS IS OFF GROUNDING TONIGHT!! YEAH! Hoping this has made an impact on him. Five days of torture. I think Fred is going to show up a day early to reward him for serving out his punishment. We are going all out with Fred this year. He has four changes of clothes, Fred candy, Fred cookies, Fred band aids, and several other things. I don't really think SS believes but this will probably be his last year so we are going to make it fun.

DN made two pecan pies and a broccoli and rice casserole. I already have the sweet potato casserole made. I made two pumpkin pies and a pumpkin cheesecake. DH is currently putting the turky's in to brine. DN is coming late with her b/f so I have tons of cheeses and crackers and pickles and olives and some asparagus wrapped in phyllo dough. My son wants to try his hand at deviled eggs so I will let him. We probably won't eat until evening. We will nosh on snacks during the day.

Today, for me, is about assembling casseroles. I will get them all ready to go in the oven. Tomorrow things will just need to be baked. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Yep, it's elf season again! We're pumped and ready. We're going to make elf cupcakes one day. And we got elf peppermint marshmellows for hot cocoa. Gonna be a blast.

I was mean. And I'm proud of it. I went in his room and asked him if he was tired of reading. He said yes. I said good. Start writing sentences. I'm surprised I'm still alive from the drop dead look he gave me. Then I made him watch me as I emailed his teacher and told her he had been grounded for the lying and not turning in homework. He was grounded from all electronics and toys. He could read and write sentences. Yep, I am that mean. He's lucky he's alive with all the crap he pulled.

We're excited about Fred. Target has a bunch of elf stuff. I bought SS some new elf jammies yesterday. I got his sister a pair for Christmas.

Our Target and our BBB had TONS of stuff. Wrapping paper, chocolates, gift bags, clothes galore, and they even have a reindeer for your elf to fly on. They have all kinds of baking stuff like cupcake papers and sugar decorations to go on them. There is so much stuff out there now.

It doesn't have to be a money making scam. Sure you can buy into all the junk for it. I have a little bit. But you really don't have to. Just buy the elf and you don't ever have to buy anything else. Most of it is fun by hiding him and stuff. We really enjoy it.

I did talk to dad this morning. I asked him how he was feeling. All he said was, "Oh.....I'm here." He sounds depressed and I can understand. Little sis and her DH are with my parents, so that gives him conversation and extra company.
Saying lots of prayers that he makes it through the holiday.

NJN, if you bought the elf, you made that mother and daughter who came up with the idea, richer.

It seems like a lot of work, to me. To find things to do with the elf. At a very busy time of the year.

Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Not an elf doll.

This elf wasn't around, when my kids were little. And, even if it was, no way, no how, would I have done it.
