SS just got up and found the elf party. He's having so much fun with it.

Thanks. It really wasn't a lot of work. DH and I threw the cupcakes together the night before. The big snafu was I ran out of frosting and we had to go get some and frost the cupcakes while SS was here so I could stick the little toppers on. DH kept him away from the kitchen while I did that. In the car picking him up my son says, "What are all those cupcakes for?" And DH and I say loudly "WHAT CUPCAKES?" and deliver a MM glare. He immediately shut up. I asked him if he had been walking over to the bakery again and he said no but he wanted to. Nice defection kid. DH helps me do all the elf stuff so we can whip stuff together quickly. Our elf always leaves a note which is DH's job to write and print up.

I've never seen elf on a shelf until I joined GT a few years ago. I don't know why my family or none of my friends' families or why my friends with their children never played it looks cute. My question is, do the younger kids think the elf is alive?

Yes. And it's kind of like the toys in Toy Story. It doesn't move when you are watching. And every night it flies to the north pole and reports your behavior and wish list to Santa and then comes back before you wake up. That's why it is in a different spot everyday.
And you can't touch the elf - if you do, it loses its magic. That's VERY important. Last year was terrible, Baby J took our elf down and threw it at DD10 (9 at the time). She LOST it and melted down crying that Baby J had killed Edward (our elf). Luckily, there is a way to fix the elf and regain his magic. We had to send him back to the North Pole for a few days. But the more you touch him, the less likely he'll be able to heal. It's a big deal.

We have so much fun with our elf. But in our house adults can touch the elf. But only to help him move out of the way.

Oh my gosh LL. I'm feeling terrible for your DD but I'm also laughing. I'm glad there is a way to heal the elf. This sounds like a lot of fun. I have no idea why nobody I know does this.

It was terrible. She was grief-stricken. I'm not sure she'd react that badly if I died. But, yeah, I laugh about it now, too. I mean, we called up our friends who had an elf and asked them to send their elf to our house to help get Edward back to the North Pole, and their elf brought us back a letter from Santa saying Edward was going to be ok but that he needed to recuperate in the elf hospital for a few days, and PLEASE don't touch him again. Baby J will NEVER touch that elf again after DD10's reaction. So, while he was gone, the kids made him a bed to rest in and snacks, and drew him pictures.

Wow, quick thinking on your part! And Baby J learned a lesson.
So Monday morning Snowy was found hugging an Angel I have for Xmas, Tuesday morning we found him hanging at the church in my village display and DD remarked he is in love with the Angel and wanting to get married. Soooooo this morning....

So Friday Fred flew in on Alex, the reindeer, in his new motorcycle jacket and goggles.

And Saturday he made chocolate chip peppermint cookies and milk for game day. He has on his jersey and is obviously routing for Baylor. GO BEARS!

I can't believe this was on the fourth page! Last night Fred and Alex went ice skating. They had hot cocoa and left a hot cocoa kit for the boys.

Today Fred got touched and had no powers. Luckily Alex can still fly and swiftly flew back to Santa to retrieve medicine. Fred has been ordered to stay in bed for 24 hours. He's in the EICU hooked up to an IV. Poor Fred.

We have ice skates and a scarf, a motorcycle jacket and goggles, a team jersey, a winter jacket, and something else. He changes outfits at whim.
