Obviously no one. Christians can be just as intolerant as anyone else. Do you really believe we are better because we're Christian? I believe I am saved because I am a Christian not that I'm any more tolerant or caring or giving...Just saved.
Who is saying that?
Lily was saying that.

I don't think it's the Christian fault. I think there are splinter groups in just about every way of thinking that like to stir up trouble. THESE athiest are not the spokespeople for any atheists I know. I just wish we all didn't let them drag us into this stupidity. I'm sure enough in my beliefs that I really don't care what they think of me. I'm more worried about those I know and how I can have a conversation with them about my faith and what it means to me. I think that's the way to spread the word no matter what your word happens to be.

"Believing one faith is right is tantamount to FAITH. But, regardless, that is not even remotely the same as calling God a fairy tale. We don't put up billboards insulting other Gods. Saying MY God is the only God is not the same as saying something like "Buddha was a moron" (that's an example - NOT my feelings, btw)." - Lawyerlady
Saying "My God is the only God" is the exact same thing as saying "Your God is a fairy tale". As a believe in your God, you may not think it says that, but, that is how it comes across. How would you, a Christian, take a Hindu saying "Only the Hindu Gods are the true Gods"? Obviously you would believe them wrong (you believe your God to be the only one), but what would you believe the meaning of their statement to be?
"Each side believes the other is being negative and insulting. Which is why they put the billboard up. Nothing serves their cause better than stirring up animosity between both sides and it's working as we can see from this thread." - Tinydancer

Every religion believes itself to be THE one. That's the way it is. And it's no more arrogant than an atheist assuming there is NO God.

For some people making a statement that isn't wishy washy and states something in the affirmative is an "affront" to them. And, saying there is No God and running around making that statement is just as "arrogant" as Christians saying Jesus Christ is THE Way.

How would I take a Hindu? I would say, that is an interesting point of view and you may sincere but you are sincerely Wrong.

My FIL is Hindu. We've managed to co-exist for 17 years now. He and his Catholic wife for 48.

Well, I didn't say anything about coexisting. I don't run around saying "oh your religion is wrong" or whatever. But, the question was asked. So, I gave my answer.

I would say, "Some people believe that most religions actually worship the same, one God, using different names and different traditions.
It's possible that everyone is right." With an infinite God, there are infinite possibilities.

I fully believe that people are likely praying to the same God, but that God gave specific instructions on how to get to heaven which is covered in the New Testament. The Quran and the Old Testament are quite similar. Because I believe that God sent his son as sacrifice for our sins to give us eternal life as described in the New Testament, that means I believe there is only one way to heaven - through a belief in Jesus Christ as the son of God, because that is what the Bible says.

Well, then wouldnt' it be pretty cruel of God to have let Jesus suffer and die that way then if it really didn't matter? And, why does the God of the Bible then get upset over worshipping other Gods? You can believe that but it isn't consistent with the Bible.

Circular reasoning at its finest.
BUT I mean no disrespect, but I'm always struck by the irony.
Not at all true. I can discuss GOD or the concept of God without ever even touching the Bible. I think the Created Universe is evidence of God Himself. I can debate that for days a long, long way from the Bible.
Nonlife does not beget life. And, exposions and chaos do not create order. Ordered systems tend to disorder not more order soooo, if anyone wants to actually study science for real, they will understand this.
There is a God because the sun came up this morning. Because the planets stay in their orbit. Because there are leaves on trees and because there are birds singing.
There is a God because our hearts are pumping and our lungs fill with air. Because we can think and reason and feel.
There is a God because of every second of every day He touches our lives.
Yes. The Bible says so.
But so does this amazing planet and our amazing lives. It isn't random. None of it was random. Everything is by design.
Divine design.

You ascribe "god like" qualities to genes, evolution, nature, etc. Anything to prevent you from believing in God when in fact you are ascribing God Powers to those things, lol.
Chance and random mutations and genetic mistakes rarely result in IMPROVEMENTS. And, if you would actually take some courses in genetics you would understand that. But, I dont' want to interfere with the Evolutionary Fairy Tale either, lol.

Nature just is.
flan
You are right. Nature just is one on God's plans and creations.
God created Nature.
God created you.
He knew you before you were born. He planned for you. He gave you a measure of Faith.
God is the very reason you are breathing right this second.

Doesn't matter.
I'm sure we've both given the matter a lot of thought.
That's why they call it faith. I have faith that the Bible is correct.
Yes, I realize that. But it's when believers try to convince others using that argument...it never works for me.
flan
And yet the theory of evolution does? There is no proof for that, either. If you want to talk fairy tales, you are just choosing which fairy tale to believe.

Exactly. And I don't need the Bible to know there is a God. I need the Bible as a guide to history and life and love and salvation.
Yes! I use the Bible for my life plan. I am also totally fascinated with the history contained in the Bible. I've seen too many unexplained things in my life and I know where they come from. I really do believe that God has a plan for everyone. Even if they don't know or believe.

But that doesn't answer the question I asked. What would you take as the meaning, towards Christianity and Christian believers, of a Hindu believer saying "Our Gods are the only true Gods"?
In case you missed the direct reason for my question, it was in response to this part of your earlier comment: "But, regardless, that is not even remotely the same as calling God a fairy tale."
Isn't saying "Our Gods are the only Gods" (as a Hindu might) the same as calling Christian God false, or a fairy tale? I believe it to be more than "remotely the same" I believe it to be exactly the same.
"Creation didn't create itself. Nothing creates itself. The only possible explanation for Creation is THE Creator." - Lady Gaga Snerd
If "Nothing creates itself", doesn't that beg the question "What/Who created God?". And there's the inevitable "What/Who created that/whom which created God", and so on, and so forth.
"I really don't care if you "disagree". You cannot show me evidence of ANYTHING creating itself." - Lady Gaga Snerd
Can you show any evidence that God created anything? Isn't it hypocritical to ask for something from the other side of the argument that you, yourself, cannot provide for your side of it?
