SB, I need a place to winter. Do you have a spare room?

Love the pictures.

It's so pretty here! I wish I had a boat and someone to put it in and out of the water and drive it.

Thanks, but I don't know if we can afford them!

Although I would like to live through the winter...

Don't buy used tires. If you can only do one per paycheck then do one per paycheck but get them done asap. Tires you don't screw around with. Consider opening a credit card with your mechanic if you can to get them. My dad borrowed my car awhile ago and came back with the oil changed. He borrowed it again a few days later to go and buy me an entire new set of tires. It makes a huge difference in handling. Didn't notice it while my tread was getting low.

OK.

We are talking about Myrtle Beach again this year.

Who knows? If we do, maybe we could meet in the middle?

Yeah I get the expense, but they are the best and last the longest making them the cheapest.

One of our nurses is missing. She came in and attended the staff meeting. Then she clocked out and no one can find her. She's in an abusive relationship and has been having more problems than normal. She's a very responsible employee. This is way out of character for her. Please say a prayer.

I had that on the wrong thread all. Sorry.

She finally checked in after we called the police and sent a text telling her so. Before that 5 people were texting and calling trying to get a response. She called and said she was fine and was with her mother so they called her mother and she was lying. Apparently she's been really depressed. She went to the police station and checked in with them. They said she wasn't alone and the other person wasn't her momma. She kept texting one person saying she was fine and wouldn't kill herself.

We are really worried about her well being. She recently lost her brother who was in the mid east on military duty. Having the abusive relationship probably doesn't help. Her brother was her rock.

He really does! It was such an awesome show of his love for me that when he told me what he did I was so touched I cried. I still kind of tear up thinking about it.

That's so scary. I'm sorry for her and for you to know your friend is going through that. I hope she is okay.

Survived my first week on the job. It's amazing. I feel truly blessed to have a good job, great husband and a healthy fat baby.

I've never bought a used tire. We'll find a way.

I think I'm going to try to take Monday off since I don't feel safe driving on wet roads.

(Although today was not as wet as yesterday.)

I was driving from work to itty bitty's house (it was raining the whole way...30 minutes). I was almost there, very tired, and had to stop suddenly when 2 cars were turning left into a shopping plaza.

My tires merely skidded & the brakes didn't seem to "catch," but I did not hit the car in front of me.

I may need FOUR new tires.

Tires are cheaper than an airbag. Or a front bumper.

Do you know how old your tires are? The rubber in tires (and engine belts and hoses) deteriorates over time due to exposure to ozone in the air. Rubber parts more than 8 years old can fail suddenly.

There's a code stamped in the side of every tire showing its' date of manufacture. Any tire dealer can show you, and tell you when they were made.

 Thanks, ed.

We both drive Toyotas & for years, took them to our nearest dealer for oil changes and maintenance.

A few years ago, DH decided to switch to another shop (near his work). Yes, they ARE cheaper, but they also do nothing extra on an oil change. The dealer would remind me it was time to rotate my tires, etc. I miss that.

Dealer service people are trained to look at an oil change as a way to sell additional service and repairs, often (depending on the dealer) whether needed or not.

If you haven't gotten new tires in several years, please find out how old they are, and whether the remaining tread depth is still good enough.

Also have the serpentine belt and the radiator hoses checked. It's time.

Let me spend a little more of your hard-earned money: If  your antifreeze is two or more years old, change that now too. (sorry about that.)

DS2 is super busy right now, but when his class is over, I may ask him to take a look at my car.
