Still waiting patiently for the Fed ex man to bring my package. I ended up getting the floor mate on sale at Kohls plus I used my kohls cash and they had 20% off. I got it for $20.

A flock of flirting flamingos is pure, passionate, pink pandemonium-a frenetic flamingle-mangle-a discordant discotheque of delirious dancing, flamboyant feathers, and flamingo lingo.
We had a nice day. Went to brunch with my dad, then I put up Christmas decorations with Bunny while Husband tackled some of the leaves in our yard.
Pizza and friends are on their way to our house now.
The weather was so nice today. I opened all the windows and Bunny played in the yard quite a bit.
Tomorrow I have to finish some sewing so I can sent my SS gift on Monday.
My home made turkey and dumplings. Looks horrible, tastes delicious. This should probably go on the dinner thread.

I love grits too. I've never had Polenta. I saw some at the store yesterday in the gluten free stuff. Should have gotten some.
Please don't do this. You will pay way more than you need for the label to say gluten free for something that is already gluten free. This makes polenta just fine.
Here is a recipe for an easy to make polenta. I would cut back on the salt (I don't use any) since a lot of broths and cheese are salty. You can sub olive oil for the butter (can't remember if you have dairy allergies too). http://www.food.com/recipe/soft-oven-polenta-84268

I guess I was unclear on that! We were looking at the gluten free items and polenta was on a shelf next to it. It wasn't labeled gluten free! Yeah, since my son's diagnosis I read all the labels. People probably hate me in the store when I pull out my bifocals and stand there for five minutes and read the label! lol

Oh, and I will try that. He has no dairy allergies. And I rarely salt anything!

The only time polenta has gluten is if you add food products that have gluten in them.

My 9lb dog is having a fight with his kong. It won't give him the treat inside. He's actually jumping on it, stepping back, jumping on it again, throwing it, and then stomping his feet. Hilarious!!
And then he jumps on me and cries so I will help him. I just give it back and the whole thing starts over.

He has this ridiculous long tongue (I would have named him after a KISS band member if I'd noticed when I got him) and he can just keep licking at it and licking at it, no matter how far inside it gets (it's a small kong) but he gets so impatient!!

Layla has a really long tongue too! Carlee not so much. When we fill their Kong balls with peanut butter Carlee gets mad because Layla can get her tongue further into it than she can. So she will finish up all the peanut butter.

The other reason is that I can't stand them selling polenta when it is pretty much just corn meal anyway. they label it polenta, have half the amount and charge twice as much. Personal pet peeve.
How do I post a video from my computer here? The dog is still battling his kong and it's killing me!!
No idea! I've always been clueless in that department!
jlbear, yes, some cornmeal actually has a trace amount of gluten in it. Not all but some. But it's so small it doesn't bother my son. I just read the label. His biggest triggers seem to be bread and pasta. We've found substitutes for those and then we let him self regulate on other things. He knows if he eats ten cookies he'll be sick but if he eats one he'll be okay. We've found that if we took everything away it was harder to make him eat better.

This calls for a joke (NSFW):
A beautiful woman was sitting at the bar, and one after another, several guys tried to start conversations with her. None of them lasted over a minute before she shut them down.
Then a short, fat, ugly guy sat down next to her, and a minute later, she took his arm, kissed him, and they left the bar...
Joe, a new guy in this bar, watched the whole thing, and asked one of the regulars about it.
Jerry, the regular, said, "I don't understand it myself. It happens all the time though. That guy walks in, sits down next to a pretty women, and a minute later he's taking her up to his room. He doesn't even TALK to them. All he does is ...
Spoiler
sit there and lick his eyebrows."

It's probably easier to upload it to you tube and then load it to here.
Grrr. All my youtube accounts are corporate. I don't have upload access :( You're all missing out on the ridiculous amount of cute-ness that is my dog having a tantrum.

Do you have Internet access OUTSIDE of work? Like, at home?
It's quick and easy to create a new You Tube account. And free. Even I figured out how to do it.

That looks delish. DH and I don't drink so no alcohol in the house. The recipe calls for red wine and I don't know which one would be good to use.
Would you please recommend a red wine to use?
I always use red cooking wine. It's sold in the grocery store and doesn't have to be refrigerated. It has less alcohol than real wine, I think.
I was told that those wines have an obscene amount of salt added to them. I don't mind buying a small bottle of wine for a recipe. I just don't know what to buy because I don't drink and don't know what's good and what isn't.
Thanks chef. They never really look like they belong on a cooking sure but they sure are good!

I would think that for cooking any bottle would do Chef.
But someone correct me if I am wrong.
YOU ARE WRONG!! Well, I don't know that. Actually, I have no idea. But I just wanted to say that.

I'm pretty sure it was Momala that said not to use the cooking wines because of salt content but I could be wrong. I bought the cooking sherry from the cooking wines section once for a Chopped challenge and tasted a little. It was gross. Tasted like a liquid salt lick.
I know nothing about wines. I see a lot of recipes I want to try but I don't know what's considered red, white, dry, etc. Same thing with beers. I don't know what's considered dark beer vs light beer. At least when I recipe calls for a liquor of some sort, I know what to get if I choose not to omit the alcohol.

I meant any bottle of red wine would work for cooking, sorry. I've never heard of straight 'cooking' wine.
You want to use a dry red wine like a merlot to a burgundy. I usually buy a four pack of single serving bottles of wine for cooking so I don't waste a larger bottle.
NAOW~"cooking wine" is sold near the oils. It's a "wine" without the alcohol. Personally, I don't like to use it. I don't think the taste holds up as well when cooked.
When choosing a wine to cook with, you don't need to be too picky. The biggest thing is to know whether you want a sweet or dry wine. Getting those mixed up can really mess with the taste. In my experience, unless you are making desert, you want to say away from sweet wines
Chardonnay is my go-to white wine. I don't cook much with red, just Marsala sauces, but that has a distinct taste and would not be a good all purpose choice.

Isn't wine without alcohol known as "grape juice"?
