Is it a center? How many workers?

flan

In home, but run like a full program.  Owner and two helpers.

 Sounds good, Bonny!

flan

$10 is fine, wrap it up with a small box of candy or a candle.  I have to say, I really am a bit put off by private preschool businesses and daycare businesses where you pay tuition, and it's expensive, and are still expected to give a gift.  I wouldn't to the owner, but the workers, yes.

Lil Dude wears a size 5 shoe. Yes, folks, you read that right. Size FIVE! He's not even a year old yet. I gave birth to Bigfoot, lol! We went to Babies R Us yesterday because we needed diapers and they sell a giant box of them for a good price. I saw that they were having a buy one, get one half off sale on shoes. Lil Dude needs more shoes that actually fit so I figured why not. Size FIVE! Good grief! I got a bonus surprise at the register too. One of the pairs of shoes rang up at 30% off so I got that in addition to the other pair being 50% off due to the sale :D

 Yes, I think you did!!!

Itty bitty is 2 1/2 and wears a SIX.

If this keeps up, by the time he's 2.5, he'll be in men's shoes.

I went to pick up my prescription earlier, and they gave me the wrong one! It was more expensive then I thought, but I just started this insurance, so I thought I had looked it up wrong. I looked at the bag, and I didn't recognize the name of the drug, so I opened the bottle and I definitely didn't recognize the pills. I turned right around and took it back and they got me the right ones.

For my in-home daycare, I gift her a week's salary.  With 2 workers, I would perhaps give the owner half, and give the gift cards to the helpers.  But, you haven't been there all year, either, so maybe $25 gift card for the owner.

Mine went to the in-home for half this year, and she'll be there the days leading up to Christmas, so I'll give her 1/2 week's salary this year.

I volunteered at the Scholastic warehouse sale today. OMGosh, today was a never-ending day of putting back all the books people decided they didn't want and left laying everywhere.

People would leave entire stacks.  They would put in their cart anything that caught their eye and then stop in a random aisle, go through the cart and decide it was too much and leave STACKS of books from all over the place.  And there is a bin at the front for books you change your mind about, but NOOOOOOOOOO.

That sounds like a pain! I'd follow people around putting stuff back in their carts.

The other issue is the kids. Parents bring their kids and let them wander, so they pick up a book from one aisle and take it to mom somewhere else in the warehouse. When she says no - it goes right back on the shelf where ever they may be.

I guess it keeps us volunteers busy.

Peter Pan. The Broadway production I think. Not impressed so far.

My dog is losing her hearing. I've noticed it the past few days. It used to be if I whispered her name, she'd come running. Now, I have to yell it, and sometimes a couple of times.

When my kids were in daycare, there is no point at which I would have been able to afford this on top of the daycare fees. I think it's great that you can, but there is no way I ever could have.

Daycare is expensive. And I know the work they do is difficult and often thankless. I think that any token you give them to show your appreciation is wonderful.

Our 13-year-old beagle has lost his hearing. It's annoying, sad, and cute all together. I hate having to wake him up, you have to touch him to wake him now and it always scares the crap out of him. Of course, it's also funny watching him jump. I'm a little mean sometimes

Oh, when DD10 was in regular daycare, I did not do that.  But with in-home, the fees are usually less expensive, and quite honestly, I didn't think she charged enough. She was licensed by the state and charged me $100 a week.  It was too cheap.

What if you stomp or pound something on the floor near him? Would the vibration wake him up without frightening him?

Not always. Maybe our house is a little too sturdy for that trick, not much shaking going on lol

Put a block of wood on the floor a few feet from him, then whack the block with a hammer. That should make a vibration he would feel. And if the ceiling underneath is old, you could then replaster it. blankstare
