No. Don't post pics. Other parents might have rules about their kids having their pics online. Or, at least clear it with the parents first.

Just spent 2 hours on the federal ins b.s. website. DD now has health ins. the past 6 months was scary when she wasn't covered. She now has dental coverage too but I know it won't be all that great since we already did most the work but it will help. Big relief but it's costing me about $125 more a month than what I was paying through my employer. Not too shabby I guess.

Church was great.

Lunch was great.

Time for a great nap.

It's only 40 here and looks like it could snow at any minute.

I will think good thoughts for the Seahawks!  Even though you're our rival.  My little sister lives there and is a big fan, so I'm rooting for ya!

Give Me Grand's!

Wow, first time today I've had time to write a post.
Sounds like everyone is having a good weekend! Yay!
How was the party, IKWTDS? I bet you are glad you did go.
I watched "A Christmas Carol" with George C Scott this afternoon. Now I am really in the Christmas spirit.
I also started a circular scarf for DS's GF. I hope I get it done in time. Gosh, I waited long enough to start it. On my side though, she didn't tell me until Tuesday what color she wanted. Then I had to buy the yarn..
DD is finally better. Still has pain, but easier to control now. Wish we didn't have side effects from the drugs though.. poor girl.
The grand's spent yesterday afternoon and evening here. Christmas cookies made and many eaten. The kids have as much fun eating the cookies as making the cookies.
The grand's went to see Santa Claus before they came over here. Santa asked DGD#2 if she was on the naughty or nice list. She said she was on the naughty list. The girl owned it. She's four, totally honest and so darn cute.
Expecting snow here tonight. Temp was 55 degrees at 7 this morning and it's now 32 degrees and misting. I hate ice.
Hope to make it to church in a little over an hour and then back to knitting.
Have a great evening geeks.

I just don't want today to pass without taking a moment to remember the victims of the Newtown shooting. Today is the 2nd anniversary of the tragedy.

Grrrrr. I'm irritated. We just had the kid's Christmas party at church, and some people just DO NOT UNDERSTAND what Christmas is about even after seeing a play about it. It's not about the gifts - it's about the joy of Christ and being together to celebrate his birth.

This one woman I do not know (she's rather new) tried to take my daughter out of food line to go to her car in the parking lot and help her with gifts. Now, I realize DD should be helpful, but since I don't really know this woman, I stepped in and told her I would help, because my child was not going out to the parking lot with a person I don't know.

This is how we do gifts for kids at the church - we ask all families to contribute what they can as generic gifts for specific age ranges. Then, when Santa comes to our party, he hands out a gift to each child there, and all the additional gifts go to the Domestic violence shelter. We purposefully over buy so we have plenty to give away. We usually have about 20 kids and about 50-60 gifts, so we take the extra 30-40 over there.

So, after handing out gifts, this woman (car lady) comes and digs out 2 gifts she brought and told me "I wanted these to go to a child in OUR church. Tell me who is in this age range." And then she proceeded to give 2 children a second gift. Now, besides the fairness of it, that just seemed wrong to me. Why can't the shelter kids get the nice gifts?

And then another child didn't like her gift that she got, so one of the other women came and exchanged it for her at the tree. NO, that is not how it's done. Sorry. What if every kid wanted to do that? Sometimes, you just need to say thank you and move on.

Wow LL, some people have no clue. When I was in college, right after my divorce, my kids got invited to two Christmas parties. One was through the college because I was on the Dean's list. We had to RSVP with our kids info so they had appropriate gifts. The other was put on by a biker organization. Santa rode in on a bike and gave all the kids a present. I wouldn't have even of thought of telling the people at either party that the gifts weren't to our liking or anything. That is beyond rude. We just took what was accepted and were thrilled.

Growing up Santa gave out gifts at church. Now I was in a huge church, like close to 2000, so there were a LOT of kids.

How we did it was each kid who wanted to get a gift, brought a gift.

Girls bought for girls, boys for boys and then they put the age and gender on the packafge and Santa divided out the gifts.

It would take forever for every kid to get their gift but we all got one.

Now, Santa just brings a peppermint cane and talks to the kids.

Everyone gets a fruit bag or basket though.

Oh. And yeah, the car woman was rude. So was the other woman.

Maybe next year they will have learned what Christmas is about.

Very close in my heart.  I think about those parents every day.  I don't know what more I can do for them but to think and honor their children and let them know their children are not forgotten. cry

It's heartbreaking. I'm not as close to it but I still think about it often.  It was such a horrible event.  I hope for peace for them.

So, Home Alone.

Now that was a pretty good movie. But then there was Home Alone 2.

I cant help but wonder why CPS wasn't a part of these movies.
