We successfully wrapped all of SS's presents tonight.  We actually got a lot done.  We finished up our food shopping and picked up medicine so no more trips to the store before Christmas.  Today we take Layla to the vet for her skin rash.  This should be fun since she likes to barf.  Ugh.

I came home early yesterday & slept & slept. I needed it!

And, fool that I am, I volunteered to work the late shift today.

My Company's Christmas lunch is today. Really only a handful of people will go. But I am close to those that will be there, we've been with the company a long time. This will probably be our last Christmas season together.

Morning.

Today and tomorrow and school is out for Christmas break. Yay!

It's national free shipping day. May have a look-see on line. Might find something awesome for Summer.

Hope everyone has a great day. Enjoy lunch and work and everything else.

I'm hungry too Flan.

We may have some Wintry precipitation on Wednesday. A white Christmas in the South? Are the Misers swapping for a day?

It's too much!

Cloudy and drizzle, 44 degrees here. Jessi and I have been taking Ares for a morning walk. I hope the drizzle lets up, so we can still go.

I think I'll start on the treats for the neighbors. Shopping is done, except for the Santa candy. I can pick that up when I get dinner fixings.

I feel like I'm ahead of the game, this year!smile

I had a good day with the Fitbit yesterday. 13,971 steps, 6.61 miles. Yay! That's the best I've done since August!

Have a great day, Good Geeks!

We finished our Christmas shopping yesterday. We got all SS's presents wrapped and hidden away. We're picking him up tomorrow so they had to be done. The others we can do periodically when we have time.

Got our new printing equipment delivered yesterday at the new shop. DH called from Philly to tell me that now he thinks we need to trade a pretreating unit for an upgraded one (he's been training on the new equipment this week)

I am juggling a million details for the holiday production, and then the shut down and moving from the 26th to the 1st.

And something in the garage has died, and it smells gross out there. Yard guy has offered to go on a carcass hunt....

Today after work, it's Chrsitmas Dinner time. So DD will be doing hair for a few of her "not so girly" friends who usually just have a ponytail. Then it's makeup and getting dressed! After that, pictures of DD and her friends and then DD and her boyfriend (he is a cutie and super nice) and then they are off to dinner!

Meanwhile, I will be wrapping presents, giving the dog a bath, and packing for our trip. DH wants to make the 12 hour drive without staying the night anywhere. Usually we do an 8 hour day, then spend the night, then do a 4 hour day. DH wants to just drive. We will see how that goes with the dog. I am anxious to just be there already. I am looking forward to family time! DD will be in from NYC with her BF and I can't wait!

So, $250 dollars later we have now found out that MAYBE Layla is allergic to ants. Two vets and two bills later and she's MAYBE allergic to ants. I didn't really like this vet. They wouldn't examine her in front of us.

What?  I have always been in the exam room with my pets.  The only time any has ever been out of my sight was when they take them back to X-ray.  I would not go back to that vet, ever.

How can she be allergic to ants?  Is it a reaction to bites?

It just felt wrong.  I don't know how to explain this.  Especially since people already think I'm horrible to my pets.  But when my kids were little if someone had wanted to take them off alone for routine things I would have said no.  They told us that they couldn't examine her in front of us because it leads to anxiety.  They said pets are more comfortable around the doctors without the owners than with them.  I don't believe that.  Again, if they were my actual children they would be more relaxed with me there.  All they did was test her for heart worms, after we told them she didn't have them (and her past record said the same), and looked at her skin rash.  Nothing invasive.  No x-rays.  Well, the heart worm check is a little blood draw but nothing major.

I don't know what to think.  Our vet closed down so we had to go to another vet.  We used this vet once when we moved here to update our other dogs shots.  Layla has a horrible rash and no one seems to be able to tell us EXACTLY what is wrong.  They're all guessing.  This one says she thinks the scratches are infected now and I would agree with that.  So she put her on an antibiotic and Prednisone.  My sweet dog is losing all her hair and scratching till she bleeds.  And it's not mange.  I doubt we will take her back to that doctor if this doesn't work.

Asking for prayers and good thoughts sent our way. Some man has a hostage and has shoot at a vehicle in a town just miles from here. Local grade school is in lockdown. SWAT team is here, plus at least 8 state troopers. The guys is threatening to kill anyone who approaches. Half the town has been evacuated.
DD is stressing, her son is at that school. We believe the kids are safe, but it is stressful for them.

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. Supposedly the situation has been resolved. I haven't heard how or what happened. School is not in lockdown after all, TG. Still to close for comfort.
I hope they didn't have to shoot the guy.

It is scary when a school is locked down. But it can be a whole lot safer for the kids if they stay where they are in most cases.

The guy is in custody now, charged with Terroristic Threats. He was suicidal and from what is posted on local news, this started early this morning. Took a lot of law officers to talk this guy down and get him into custody. Armed and barricaded. Wow, just wow.
Oh, and he sent the terroristic threats via phone messages. I think he needs serious help and will probably end up in prison.
Thanks, Lexxy. I know you care about all the geeks. :)
Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. I'm glad this is over.
