DD's BF is the nicest, most polite and gentlemanly teenager I have ever met. She picked a good guy.

DS is taking DD shopping this w/e to let her get me a Christmas and bday gift. He is so good to her and me. Also, it saves me a shopping trip since she needed to get a Yankee swap gift for school so she will get that when the to out.

Today was another pre trial hearing for the Boston Marathon bomber, the one brother that survived. Some Russian woman yelled inside the courtroom "don't kill this boy, he is so sweet" or some such. He faces the death penalty if convicted. She was removed from the court room. How strange she would yell that since HE killed a 7YO boy with his bomb.

Seems we will not be having our usually family get together this year. Mom says mawmaw doesn't want to and she isn't going to force her to do something she doesn't want to do.

I think it would be exactly what she needs.

I know she misses pawpaw, I do too. But we are not gone. We are still a family and we need to keep being a family.

So we are not having the big get together.

I still want Christmas eve to be a family thing.

I know mom wants to do help mawmaw but I don't think that is what is happening.

Your mawmaw is probably of the age where she can no longer do the work needed to host a large family group. Now is a good time to make a new tradition and mawmaw recognizes that as well.

She hasn't hosted it in probably 7 years now. Mom started hosting it and then she and her brothers took turns.

All mawmaw has to do is show up. Have something to eat and be with the family. That's it.

Mom thinks she is depressed. And she very well could be. I wouldn't fault her for that.

That is why I think a couple hours with the her kids and grandkids would be good for her. Help her remember she is still loved and is not alone.

Prayers for you and your family, Lily. Keep an eye on mawmaw. Even if it means showing up at her house for an hour or so at Christmas. Maybe do it in shifts with other relatives, to spread it out and keep her mind busy?

What if you told her she only had to come for an hour? Maybe that would seem more manageable for he. Once she got there, she might decide to stay longer.

We are all trying to keep her involved. She goes to the doctor at least once a week. Well, it is the wound care center. She has had a wound on her leg for probably 10 years. Been to doctor after doctor after doctor. It will start to heal and look like it is going to be ok and then it gets bad again. So I know that is a drain.

She and her son share the house. Between mom and her brothers there is someone there every day.

She will go to church some.

She is going to be 85 in February. She is still just as mentally sharp as ever.

I think she needs to be reminded that we are still here.

Sorry, I can't do pics.

It's not completely made of gorilla tape. I took a lumpy uncomfortable Kong bed, cut it open with my utility knife, stuffed it with foam pads from an old futon we are going to throw out, and taped it all back up with the gorilla tape. It's holding really well, even with my 85 lb. doggie thrashing around on it.

This is all because we've got to get him out of our bed.

That reminds me of an interview with Dolly Parton that I saw years ago - she was talking about when she lost all that weight. The interviewer asked her about, well, her boobs staying 'large'. She said something to the effect that 'of course the weight loss affected the size and shape', but "I just had them pumped back up again." biggrin

Thanks all! She works out all the time, so she earned those legs! Every inch of that rockin bod was earned through her blood sweat and tears. I think she deserves to show it off a bit when she can.
