I leave the Jack to you.  I'm picking up a couple of handles of vodka.  If you ever come to visit I would definitely stock the Jack though.

Doing a quick-crochet scarf or three as hostess gifts for the 25th. Have been invited to a dinner at the family's house of a friend of mine's sister . . . won't know anyone except my friend, but it beats sitting at home.

Except for the fact that it is the 23rd and I don't have directions or anything . . . not sure if it was a real invitation or not....

Not wrong at all! Take a nap and enjoy it!

I did not take a nap. Instead we straightened up the house.

Now I don't feel so claustrophobic.

Yes I currently like Cherry but I add some plain to it because it is too sweet.  My favorite used to be vanilla.  I've cycled through a few of the fruit flavors.  I tried whipped cream but it was so sweet it knocked the fillings out of my teeth.  It is delicious in hot chocolate however.  And Stoli makes an amazing chocolate raspberry that goes down so smoothly it could be dangerous.  Things like frosted cake, root beer or sweet tea don't sound appealing to me so I've never bothered.  Oh and Smirnoff makes light flavored vodkas called Sorbet that I have tried in sample bottles which were pretty good.

The sweet ones sound nasty. If I'm drinking regular vodka, I prefer it mixed with cranberry juice on the rocks.

I may have to buy a bottle...or two...

I used to drink vodka crans or vodka cran & grapefruit. You might want to mix the flavored vodka with plain vodka if you don't like sweet. I mix them on the rocks with a little tonic.

A little pineapple goes a long way.  It is pretty sweet.

That reminds me of when we went to the fair in HS.  We were using chunky pineapple juice as a mixer.  Apparently someone spilled it in the back of my car & I thought one of my friends puked & didn't tell me.  It was a sticky mess but at least it wasn't puke.

I am being the good aunt and doing what I can. I don't want to be mean. To any of them.

But I am NOT going to feel bad because I can finally give my kids Christmas.

He has a stinkin Ph.D. It isn't like he doesn't have the earning potential.

I admit I have spent a lot of years trying to make up for things I have done in my past. But I also realize that I have paid my dues and it is time to stop being the black sheep.

I am still super excited for Christmas and cant wait till Christmas morning!

At 2, My boss told us we could leave early. My work was done by noon. What time did I leave? Almost 5. Coworker had a bunch of work to get done, so I was nice and helped. I was looking forward to leaving early. Sigh.

Now I need to find something to eat and finish wrapping my dad's presents

Talk, talk, talk.

I swear he has been talking for the last hour and didn't say anything.

But now he is eating and not talking.

I think there is a lesson in that. biggrin

This was very sweet of you DG. As much as you wanted to leave early you did the right thing. Hopefully Santa was watching and there's a new car in you driveway on Christmas morning...lol

Well, it looks like Houston is getting my husband. I'll spend Christmas day with our friends and plaster a smile on my face whilst getting plastered. Maybe I'll have him for New Years? I cant really complain. He's promised me new furniture and a new house so....

Really though? I'd rather have him. I often have said I'd rather live under a bridge with him than live in a mansion without him.

I don't think you'd like it very much. Rude, selfish people are pretty much angry all the time, since very few other people accord them the respect and accolades they know they deserve.

UPDATE: DH and I stood our ground with DN. We told her it was going to be how we planned it and if she didn't like it we would drop her gifts off tonight. She apparently talked it over with her b/f and his take on it was she was being a selfish bitch and needed to knock it off. So she sent us both text messages apologizing for her behavior and saying she wanted to be part of the family activities and that she would come over and eat "breakfast" with us. We thanked her. She asked us when we were going to Sam's next and could we bring her some laundry stuff. We had just gone so we brought her one of our soaps and softeners. (She usually pays us back but we gifted it to her this time.) I asked her to make some cookies for me in my Elf on the Shelf pan that I haven't had time to make. She readily agreed to it. When we got to her place she was disappointed that we already had the soap because she said she was looking forward to getting out of the house. We were going to go to the grocery store for a few last minute things so we took her with us. She needed sugar so we picked that up too. Meanwhile, my IL's had called and asked us to come to dinner on Saturday which was when we had planned on cooking a turkey dinner. So we pushed turkey dinner off to Sunday. Now DN and her b/f are going to be home on Sunday so they are going to be able to join us for turkey dinner and everyone is now happy as a clam.

I'm tired...

I'm happy it has worked out, NJN. Sounds like Sparkly might be a keeper!

I'm glad today is over. I worked all day, marathon grocery shopped, made curry for Christmas Eve dinner, wrapped tons of gifts, partially cleaned the kitchen, deep-cleaned the litter boxes (emptied completely and scrubbed) and did some laundry. I'm beat.
