Diana Hendren allegedly grabbed the young girl after the money fell to the floor and began throttling her, police said. Workers at the J.C. Penney in Albuquerque stepped in and the woman was busted.

An angry granny choked her granddaughter as they were Christmas shopping in a busy New Mexico store after she dropped her money on the floor, police said.

Stressed-out Diana Hendren allegedly grabbed the youngster by the throat as they searched for presents at J.C. Penney in Albuquerque on Sunday, reports KOAT.

Workers reportedly stepped in after hearing the child screaming, "Don't choke me."

They dialed 911 and cops arrived.

 

Hendren told officers she was angry with her younger relative for dropping her cash.

Emergency crews drove the girl, whose age has not been revealed, to hospital so she could be checked out. Her current condition is not known.

Hendren now faces child abuse charges.

While DD and I were out our old neighbor that got hauled off while we are on vacation came back and tried to get into the house he used to live in. The family left shortly after he went to the mental hospital, I'm guessing his checks were paying the bills. The cops had to come and almost had to taze him. We always miss the crazy stuff.

The picture doesn't look as though she is old enough to be a grandmother. It is also, I hope, not a very good likeness. Scares me just to look at it.

How old do you think someone has to be to be a grandmother?  I know a few who are in their mid-thirties.

I'm only forty-five and my wife forty-three, and I'm betting the woman in the picture is right at that age.

I once ran across a family where the eldest became a mother at age 12, grandmother at age 23, great-grandmother at age 36. Her 12 year old great-granddaughter was pregnant.

I'm sure she's old enough to be a grandmother. Maybe not smart enough, but definitely old enough.

Who cares how old she is? Why is that even important?

She obviously was have an extremely bad day. I do hope it was a one time thing and the family gets help.

If it was a recurring thing, I hope she gets the maximum sentence allowed.

Karl, I don't think anyone else is sorry you posted that. It lead to a lively discussion, and that's what the board is all about. 

 

I was never very good at figuring out a woman's (or girl's) age from looking at her face. And when I met women age 21 or older, who were a size one, wearing a bra size 32A or less, I realized I couldn't judge a woman's age by her figure either.
