I see it differently.

I never said it wasn't tragic. I have. Several times.

You don't think he will be devastated by guilt when he finds out what he did? I think its the most common, expected outcome in this scenario. If you don't...well...I have no words.

I don't know.

It would depend on how he is told and how he is treated.

How would you tell your child? Wouldn't you do it in a way that let them know they were just a baby and had no real responsibility in what happened? That while they may have pulled the trigger they had no concept of what could have happened. That they shouldn't blame them selves.

And yes he may then need some help coming to grips with it, but at the same time it doesn't have to be earth shattering for hi either.

I choose to see the glass half full. This baby had no clue what his actions would do. He shouldn't have to carry it for the rest of his life.

I can promise you his mom wouldn't want him to.

He shouldn't have to carry it...but he will.

No matter how gently someone breaks it to him, he is going to be scarred for life. At night when he is lying in bed and can't sleep, his mind will go there. When he stands at graduation and misses her, he will think of it. It will haunt him for life. When someone asks him about his family and he replies that his mother is deceased, he will think of it. It doesn't matter how he is initially told, human nature will take over and he will blame himself and feel guilty, even though it was a tragic accident. He will need professional help to move past it.

Your cavalier attitude towards it just astounds me.

And please, tell me what the "glass half full" outlook is in this situation ?! That has to be the most ridiculous comment ever. It really takes the cake. He shot his mother dead, but hey, the glass is half full! There are no words. Seriously.

Yeah, really. I think it's ignorance, not "glass half full", or maybe just arguing a different point of view just to argue.

Well the thought that he will need some kind of counseling or will be scarred forever is pretty much saying throw it in his face. He wont remember it.

It will be something he heard about. Something he read about.

He will have no personal memory of it and that is a wonderful thing.

I'm sorry, but are you really that ignorant of basic psychology? Some of the things you say just defy logic.

The glass half full is that his dad isn't in prison. Yet. (That was sarcasm.)
