Thanks for starting it blankie. GM. I'm a cow. Just put a coat I hadn't worn yet this year. Tight. So tight.

It is cold. But I don't feel right even saying that, with what they are dealing with in the Midwest and other places.

Stay warm everyone!

We could have a "who's got the coldest temp today" contest.

I've got 18 degrees here near Boston, but I'm sure some of you can do way better than that.

Who wants to weigh in with your actual temp and your wind chill factor?

The sign said 9 degrees when I got to work. I think the windchill is around -5 I heard on the radio

ETA: I think this is the warmest it will be all day

My office mate just called and will not be in this morning. I'm actually happy about that. Her husband is having some medical testing done and he asked her to come. As of last night, she wasn't going to go because there is so much crap here to do. I spent the last hour of work trying to convince her to go. I'm glad she's going. There is nothing here that is more important than being there with her husband.

On a related note, if you hear wheeping from my general area of the country, just ignore it, I'll be fine 😛

Why weeping, DG? <hands tissue>

WOrking from home today. VDOT never got around to treating our roads so after packing the snow down to a thick layer of ice, I mean plowing our roads, they aren't very safe. It wouldn't be so bad, except we are a very steep, hilly development. And I'll admit, after 20 years, I haven't learned how to traverse on snowy, icy roads.

Sounds like you need a snowmobile, or maybe a Sherman Tank.

Working from home is a GREAT idea.

I'm ready for spring.

Have a good day, everyone.

FNW-there is so much to do, the two of us work at least 5 hours of OT a week and can't keep caught up. So a day alone is trying to say the least. Plus, I have some very high maintence customers that utterly frustrate me.

I get to the office at 7. I'm just now getting to really start my day. I've been on calls and in meetings all morning (with my couple quick TG sanity breaks!)

So Czech appears to be the frozen winner so far, with minus 8 and a windchill of minus 25.

Your prize, Czech? A huge mug of TEA, of course!

Happy Anniversary Flan!

Sorry you have to have surgery Trudy. I hope everything goes well.

Good luck at work SB!

Everyone try to stay warm. It is -4 here, with windchill it's -16.

I don't feel good. DD came in this morning and said she doesn't feel good either. No fever, but I don't have one either and I feel like crap. So I didn't make her go to school. Partly because I didn't feel like getting up and taking her.

Nah, MM will win that today. I think she may be close to -35 below for a wind chill.

NAOW lives further north, but west of me, in what we call the banana belt. biggrin She gets more snow though.

Someone mentioned tea...evileye It's good for hand warming and that's about it.wink

Western edge of Dakota and Nebraska are higher elevation and between the mountains and the flat plains. The strip is also warmer then east or west of the area. We have always called that strip the banana belt. Just watch the temps, you will notice that you are always a few degrees warmer then east or west of you.

We have always envied that area.

Someone just dropped off day-old pastries from Panera.

Their coffee cake ring, with different fillings? I could not decide between cherry & cheese, so I'm having BOTH.

But, in my defense, I did skip breakfast this morning because I was running late.

Brrr it is cold here but nowhere near as cold as some of you. I did a fairly crappy job of clearing my stairs of snow last night. They were super icy this morning. I had to creep down sideways clinging to the railing. Serves me right for being lazy I guess. I hope the sun melts them today otherwise tomorrow I'll need to leave through the garage.

Happy anniversary Flan.

I can't tell you how many times I've done that! And I usually leave my gloves in the car, so I'm gripping a freezing metal rail...

I shoveled what I could last night, and spread ice melt crystals. The sidewalk is clear and dry where I salted it (calcium chloride), so it's safe for the neighborhood kids to walk past my house, and the steps and porch are also clear and dry.

It's supposed to go down to 8 degrees tonight, with winds continuing to blow at about 20 mph. The wind's pretty noisy outside.

Maybe you could try using a couple of old wash cloths when you don't have your gloves. OR

buy a couple of sets of cotton work gloves, for about $1 a pair ($2 at an auto parts store, $1 at WalMart). Keep them by the front door.

I have half a dozen pairs of gloves but never wear them. I just don't think about it. I rarely wear a coat because I hate driving with it on so it is easier just to zip from the front door to the car without one. I have one in the backseat of the car just in case.
