The just closed the interstate here. I hope the weather clears up so DH can get home tonight.

DD barely made it home a short while ago. She had to take two kids to the dentist in a town 30 miles away. She said it was a total white out in areas. Her DH probably will not make it home tonight. Last night was the only night he made it home this week. Poor guy.

We already have a late start for school tomorrow. The kids got out at 2 p.m. due to roads blowing shut and I had to go get them. Dang it's cold!

Thanks for sending that 50 mph wind our way.. wink

The reopened the part of the interstate that would get him home, but it's still 'No Travel Advised' and unless something changes Dh will probably attempt to get home. Picking up DD was fine. There were icy spots, but you could see them easily. The problem was the blowing snow that made it white out conditions, it wasn't too bad on the roads I was on, but I imagine it is worse on the interstate. I'm glad your DD made it home with the kiddos.

When I got home I tried to get the mail. I was so careful to walk in the snow for more traction. Apparently there is some really thick slick ice under the snow though. I completely biffed it. I fell straight back on my butt, I think I will be sore and moving slowly for the next few days. Ouch. Total whine, but I have a bad back to begin with, and since giving birth my tail bone has been bothering me. I also feel nauseous now. I hope it all gets better quickly after this.

Dh has been shoveling faithfully but our house blocks the sun on the driveway and it melts just enough to refreeze every night. Tonight he is going to get some ice melt to put down.

Get the heating pad out for your back and I really hope you didn't crack your tailbone!

I almost wrecked the van this afternoon. The snow is packed so tight and deep in front of the garage, that when I backed out, the front end swung to the left. I almost wiped out the garage door edge.
When I came back, I thought it would be easy to get the van back into the garage. Boy, was I wrong. Front end slid and I almost wiped out the side of the garage AGAIN!!
I don't think I will be taking the van out for a day or two.. no

DGS giggled... evileye

Thank you so much.

Glad you didn't wreck Czech. Better wait until the ice melts so you don't damage your van and your house!

You can do it flan!

I know...working until 9:00 just seems SO much longer than working until 8:00.

I remember when my mother had to back our 57 Chevy uphill to get home in icy conditions, we got very quiet and prayed, hard....

Sounds like you need a 20 pound bag of ice-melt for that spot.

Can't use a flame thrower that close to a building, unfortunately. cry
