Oh my gosh! I never heard of so many parents killing their own children in my life till the past few years. They are the scum of the earth. Poor little girl :( may she rest in peace.

I like these articles because it shows how irrational of a position it is to be against the death penalty. 

Certain crimes mean you have lost the right to be in our society in any form.  

I want to punch him so bad.

 AGREE. I, too, am sick of hearing mentally ill as an excuse. It may be true or not, but it doesn't excuse what he did. 

I understand. To me, even if he is mentally ill, he is still guilty and deserves the punishment for it.

I do not like to lump evil psychopaths and sociopaths with "normal" mentally ill people.  I think it's whack-a-loon to do that.  A psychopath, although technically mentally ill, does not need or deserve sympathy - they do not have the emotions, thoughts, morality or soul of a real human being.   They just need to be removed from society like a tumor, and if they have hurt people, they need to put down.

 Technically a psychopath (and/or a sociopath) is no longer considered mentally ill.  These diagnoses have been removed from the DSM-V.  Those people are just plain evil.

LOL. It isn't "easier" for me. I never struggled with the notion that someone who kills in a heinous way deserves to die. And, I don't care how mentally ill you are. If you have intentionally killed someone, you should never see the light of day again.

You are "glad"? Wow. I think I would have been "glad" if she was removed from the home, put into a home with loving relatives, grandparents, etc and then grew up to be a beautiful young woman.

I never said "we".  You don't have to be glad. Nobody does. I said I was, because in this case perhaps that is what needed to happen to her spirit. Her time on earth may have been done.

And what if she didn't have any other family? What if the courts failed her? What if she got taken from her father and put in an abusive foster home? 

IMO she's in heaven and it's a happy outcome for her spirit.

 So, if I understand you correctly, if he is interviewed and says he heard voices that told him to kill his daughter so the boogeyman couldn't get her - that is mental illness and he needs treatment. 

 

But if he is interviewed and says if couldn't have full custody, he didn't want anyone to have her - that is just psychopathy and he should get the death penalty. Correct?

 

I would agree. But it isn't always that clear cut.
