Dead body found in house in town I live in

There was a dead body found in a house today in town where I live and they're saying they suspect foul play. We know the people who live there - the kids come to the library all the time. Their mom works out at the school, and she and the kids are I guess currently in the Dominican Republic for a wedding. It was a man who was found. Don't know if she had a boyfriend or not, quite possibly was living with her. They still haven't released his name or cause of death.

It's just really really unusual because we are such a small town. It's going around that it was a homicide. I don't think there has ever been a homicide here. A suicide or two, but nothing like this.

Let's hope it is not some kind of serial killer. Not what you need for your town. Let us know what is happening as details come out.

I just read a report that there was a call to 911 for an injured person at the home at about 7:30 this morning, but by the time police got there, he was dead. We don't have town cops anymore so it takes at least 15 minutes for a sheriffs deputy to get here. It will be interesting to see how he died. I don't think it's a killer on the loose. Usually, if something like this happens in this area, it's someone the victim knows that kills them for some reason. I guess time will tell.

My guess is drugs have something to do with it.  Not random so nothing for the town peeps to worry about.  Still very unnerving for you and your town people.  Keep us updated!

There isn't really anything new, except that the guy was 32 years old, can't remember the name someone told me, so I didn't know him. The authorities said that they would have more info by tonight, so hopefully there will be something. I can't believe no one saw something, or knows something that lives around that house.

Yeah, seems as though it isn't random, seems like a targeted murder.

Just got back from a family dinner and we were talking about this. My BIL is a volunteer EMT/fireman on our fire dept, and he went to the call. He said that the guy was the homeowner's boyfriend, and he wasn't supposed to be there. A neighbor found him on the floor of the house when they went over to let the dogs out for the woman who lives there and is/was in the Dominican Republic for a wedding.

EMTs and police went in and he hadn't been dead for very long. BIL said there was a pool of blood, but he hadn't been shot. It was either from a cut or hemorrhaging from mouth or nose. They left because they couldn't do anything. They can't remove dead bodies unless it is to take it to the fire station to meet the county EMS ambulance to take it.

The guy who died was someone who was known for having been involved in drugs and stuff like that, so it's likely it might have been drug related. BIL thinks the guy may have been beat up and someone took him to the girlfriend's house, where he collapsed and died. Still waiting for the news to say if they have any new info. Because of stupid football, they didn't show the news tonight on either local channel.

The girlfriend had talked to a family member in town yesterday and said they had someone in custody who they think did it. She will be coming home today or tomorrow, and won't be able to go home because the house still has the crime scene tape around it, and a sheriffs deputy is monitoring the house 24/7 so far.

Ok. Whew. I thought he was still in there. Blech.

Glad it seems to be an isolated incident.

Oh, one other thing my BIL said is that they had a cat that died that same day, and think it was poisoned, and maybe he was poisoned also. Can't wait for the autopsy report to come out.

It's always nerve wracking whenever there is crime or even a tragedy near where you live. It really hits close to home. I hope you stay safe!

What a horrible situation for that homeowner to come home to, but why would she around someone like that?

I've wondered that too, but why does anyone? Who knows.

Well, today the sheriffs office finally had a press conference about this case.

They arrested a guy within hours of the murder. A guy named Timothy Schroder. Apparently he turned himself in on another felony charge that night after he killed Dustin Wilder.

Schroder and his wife Amanda had gone to the bar in Sloan with Dustin Wilder, then went with Wilder back to his girlfriend's house. The news said that Schroder's wife said he had fired 2 or 3 shots in the house that night (strange she didn't say he shot him, just that he fired 2 or 3 shots in the house..), they left, and he was found by the kid who was taking care of their dogs. Still no motive, and the wife hasn't been arrested yet.

I haven't talked to my BIL about it yet. He went on the call and said he hadn't been shot. I don't know if he said that because of the investigation, or at the time they couldn't see any specific wounds, or what.

They are still investigating the case. They are asking the public to look out for the victim's wallet. Apparently that has something to do with it. They have a really large area to look, from here to a city about 20 miles from here, and another city across the river. It could have been thrown out a car window on the way back to the city, on either the county highway, or the interstate, or anywhere.

Glad the authorities arrested someone in connection with this. The story the wife gives sound a little strange, but hopefully more facts will come out during the investigation. At least you do not have to wonder anymore about who was responsible.

tlc, I'm glad they have the killer in custody. That must be a huge relief for your community as well as you.
I feel bad for the kid that found the body though. I hope he gets counseling.
Thanks for the update.

They said from the beginning that the public wasn't in danger, so I don't think anyone felt there was any danger to anyone else. Just strange. The wife of the killer seems to know a lot, but they aren't releasing any info yet.
