Or maybe ed makes these stories up for shock value and to get us to talk about sex with him. I'll never believe he had 4 different women tell him about losing their virginity at the age of eight. All four of these women shared that with ed? You can't really be that gullible or can you?

Not one women I have ever met would describe "losing her virginity" at age 8. I have never met a woman who said that. But, I have certainly met women who were molested at age 8. I think when we say "losing our virginity" that means we choose to do so. So, yeah, the 8 yr old stories? I highly doubt it unless they were some severly disturbed women.

Just to clarify, I don't recall saying any of them 'lost her virginity' at age 8.
What I recall saying is that each told me she'd first had intercourse at age 8.
OF COURSE they were molested.

You said they enjoyed it and they were WILLING participants! I refused to discuss it any more because I don't believe a freaking word of it. Go have this conversation with those who actually believe you when you say these totally unbelievable perverted things.

"So you pick and choose what you actually think is the word of God out of the Bible? It's not trail mix." - Lawyerlady
I agree with your "it's not trail mix" anti-analogy(?), It's not about picking and choosing. It's about understanding the "telephone game" aspect of it's having been edited and translated so many times. Human error and bias will creep in.
Do I believe adultery is a sin? Yes. Do I believe that because you had a lustful thought in your heart, that you had no control over having, that you have sinned? No.
I believe that a God great and powerful enough to create everything would know and understand the difference between voluntary action and involuntary urge or thought.
The Bible says that lust is a sin--but that's not the question here.
The question is whether or not that is a useful definition to make marital decisions with--and the answer to that is a resounding NO. That is an impossible standard.
My wife just happened to be watching a music video on youtube the other night and blurted out "Brantly Gilbert is hot". Using lily's ludicrous definition, I should therefore divorce my wife since she has "cheated" on me.
No sane person would hold their spouse to such an impossible standard. We cannot control another person's thoughts, nor should we discourage our partner's from sharing those thought with us, especially if they COULD potentially lead to other transgressions.
What is a "sin" CANNOT be the standard for making marital decisions. Our partners WILL "sin"--whether it is this one, or something else.
What is completely ludicrous about this thread is that many on here ARE using just that definition to apply here--and further, several are saying that the wife should divorce the guy for his thoughts--yet they completely excuse the sister, who in the eyes of God has committed the same "sin", lusting after someone who is not her spouse, and, worse, think the wife should be able to move her into the house over her husband's objections and despite the fact that he has admitted it could lead to trouble.

I actually agree with Husker that it would be ridiculous for people to hold each other up to God's standard.

One of them told me "it was my fault". She didn't comment on whether she "liked it" or not.
One told me that, while she didn't know what was really going on at the time, she liked the closeness.
The other two didn't comment further.
I wasn't asking any questions, and I wasn't passing judgement on any of them.
Maybe that's why they felt comfortable enough to tell me.
My former neighbor, the NYC school teacher, said that all three kids told her to get lost and leave them alone. Read that any way you want to.

Bull crap. So you didn't ask yet all four decided to share that information with you? I don't believe one woman would have shared this information with you never mind four of them.

Tiny dancer, some people seem to draw broken people to them. Ed and I are very similar in that respect. I have a lot of broken people in my life and I know more of their secrets than I ever wanted or needed to know. I believe him, only because I have similar stories and know that there really isn't anything people won't tell me.
I'm sorry Dona but I still don't believe him. He has waaaay too many of these strange creepy conversations with young girls. Believe him if you like but it would creep me out even more if I thought they were for real.

Most of these stories are from his college days, from other students. Not as creepy as you think!
No. I've remembered many of them. Him giving numerous girls rides for an abortion, or meeting them at the bus stop and they told him they were getting an abortion, or the sisters of girls he was dating who pranced around in their panties. By all means believe him if you really do but I don't buy a word of it.

Different people have different experiences. My world is a strange place. I don't know if he is telling the truth or not, but I do not find any of it unbelievable in the slightest. There are stories I could tell that would be no more believed than his, and yet they are true.
Human nature is such a mess that nothing ever surprises me anymore.
I've had strange experiences of my own but not every single one of them involved little girls having sex. Coincidence is one thing but if these really are true there's something even creepier going on.

I know five separate stories of people horribly abused by their parents. Does that make me creepy?
Knowing the stories, and being told them, does not meant I had any interest in knowing about such things.
Although I will say he tends to harp on about it. And tell the same five stories over and over.
No. I've remembered many of them. I never said anything about "giving numerous girls rides for an abortion, or meeting them at the bus stop and they told him they were getting an abortion",
because the only experience I have with abortion is professional, because I sold to doctors and hospitals, and a couple of times I've helped women who had just had an abortion and were faint and falling down (one) or sitting outside in the snow waiting for her boyfriend who might not show up until she froze (one).
I also overheard some snippets of conversations between the girls lined up in the patient pre-op holding area at a large NYC hospital, waiting for their abortions.
I didn't talk to the one in the doctor's office, because she fell over on me while I was in a chair waiting to speak with the doctor, and when I called for help two of the office staff ladies came out into the waiting room and helped her back inside.
I did talk to the one who was crying for help while sitting on a stone bench outside Kings County Hospital during a snowstorm, when women (adult women of her color) kept walking by and ignoring her. I asked her how I could help, she told me she just had an abortion and she was waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up, so I told her she could wait inside where it was warmer, and he could find her when he got there. Then I gave her my arm and helped her get inside and into a chair in the entry lobby.
If you're going to call me a liar, at least try to remember what I actually said.

So his background is young girls and sex because otherwise your different backgrounds excuse for him doesn't work. Like I told Dona believe it if you want but it's pretty damn coincidental and creepy. How has the thread turned ugly? I don't believe him and you do so it's all a matter of opinion.

When someone has a tendency to turn almost every thread into something about what he has "seen or heard" and that always involves something questionable. Well. What are we supposed to think?
We all have stories to tell.
Discretion is always the better part of valor.

I think many people have experienced things they cannot safely tell people about IRL.
