So I couldn't sleep. I heard our oldest dog barking outside. This is a habit of hers: the 3:00 a.m. rounds.

She didn't come inside.

It is 4 degrees outside.

I finally woke up DH (poor guy) and asked him to go find her. She was at the bottom of the steps. Her whiskers were icy & she was shivering. DH held her on the couch & I covered her with a blanket.

Scary.

She will be 18 this spring.

I know, when DH brought her inside, I was crying.

Plus, our porch light is out, and we could not find a flashlight.

For a week now at work I have been advocating for care for one of our clients. Not MY client, mind you, but someone else's because I think we are missing huge parts of her care. During this advocacy I have been demeaned and patronized by the doctors repeatedly. Even though there is a very good chance that I am right.

The client is shifting care teams next week (I thought it was this week) so I went to the person who will be her new therapist and asked that she take point on this and take over the advocacy for her client as I am hitting brick walls and verging on client-interference. She took it back to her team, and they have decided that I should be the advocacy point person because I already did all the research and have all the information.

I've been pretty clear that I am tired of being patronized and that my taking lead will not get us anywhere and may rupture relationships with other members of the team, but they feel that 'with their support my voice can be heard' and someone suggested that I 'take one for the team'.

If this goes poorly today, I swear to God, I will lose my $hit.

School cancelled, working from home. Over a dusting. More was expected, but still, last minutes cancellations. I was hoping for a little alone time to mourn the death of my aunt.

Awe, flan, poor doggie. Hope she is okay now.
Morning Lily.
Waves to Blankie!
Trudy, how are you today?
We have a busy day planned for our house. I already have a roast in the oven and another one thawing. Need to grind it all up tonight for sandwiches on Sunday.
The house HAS to be gone over TODAY. DS and family will be here Friday night. We can hardly wait! We are all in serious need of a baby kissing fix. smile

Morning everyone. It was brutally cold last night & somehow I locked Maggie outside all night. She seemed fine this morning when she came in but I felt really guilty. I thought she was down in the basement on the sofa.

Oh wow! How did she survive the cold? I would feel guilty as well. Gosh, the poor doggie. I hope she has no long term effects.

Hope the rest of the day goes better for you both!

She's a cat but I imagine she slept under a bush in the mulch.  The first winter I got her she slept outside every night by choice.  We had a major snow storm & she was outside in almost blizzard conditions.  My roommate saw her & dragged her inside.  I think her original family locked her outside.  She just recently figured out she doesn't have to be out all the time.

I need to recolor my hair too but I don't have any color under the sink & Walgreens doesn't sell the brand I like. I'll have to make a trip to the grocery store soon I guess.

Waiting for the plumber to call. Around midnight thirty last night, DD came and woke us up. She had heard what she described as a "scratching" sound. When she got up to investigate, there was water all over the house. The hot water heater sprung a leak. Thank goodness I don't have carpet!

That happened to me when I had a town house, Thankfully, it wall all tile on that floor.  It was  a quick fix ONCE the plumber showed up, 4 hours later...

DD was sick today. I worked the morning, came home and spent two hours redoing resume for 3 different positions. I had a response within 10 minutes on one. Yay. I have a BOD meeting tonight for the local girl's softball league, they want me as their financial adviser. They have a lot of stuff to clean up. Done it before can do it again!

Tooth is still in my damn mouth. I see my dentist tomorrow.

This has NOT been a good week.

Thanks Flan, it's hard coming home and not seeing that sweet face. I still shuffle my feel when I get out of bed so I won't trip over her.  Sorry about your tooth, that is an awful pain that is hard to relieve without heavy narcotics.

I asked her if she was going to have ice cream (her "bribe" for pooping).

Little snipe told me she doesn't like ice cream.

Where in the world does she get that attitude???
