You would not tell buy just handling the ball, you would need to squeeze them.

The balls were checked so they were under pressured. So, either the refs could not tell or ignored them.

From a statement issued by the NFL:

While the evidence thus far supports the conclusion that footballs that were under-inflated were used by the Patriots in the first half, the footballs were properly inflated for the second half and confirmed at the conclusion of the game to have remained properly inflated.

I saw calculations on the Ideal Gas Law. If the balls were inflated at 70 degrees and let cool outside to 50 degrees there could be a 0.4 PSI drop. Using that I imagine you would need to rub the football during prep enough to raise the temperature 40 degrees from 70 to 110.

My theory is the refs inspect the balls and did not check the pressure at the beginning. There were underinflated in the beginning and the refs allowed them.

I'm quite sure it has probably happened before and has never been called out. But I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that 11 of 12 balls would deflate that much without help - on only one team's side.

The problem I have is that I think they've been playing with deflated balls all season. So............. the game before this one, against the Ravens where the Ravens lost by 4 points... I have a problem with. Because Brady had an unfair advantage, playing with his deflated balls. lol. Not right. Everyone's balls should be the same.

And it will be interesting if the Pats still win. Will not surprise me.

I don't think the deflated balls affected the Pats/Colts game all that much. All balls were fine throughout the whole second half, and the Pats still creamed them.

What I find most interesting is that the NFL said the balls were deflated in the first half only.

The Pats scored 17 points in the first half, and 28 in the second. They did much better with the inflated balls.

How does it make any sense that the Pats gave themselves an advantage in the first half?

And the Colts did better in the first half than in the second.

What are you talking about? There is no doubt that the balls were underinflated. There's no argument about that. They didn't just get that way by themselves.

Just because the Pats won't be penalized for cheating doesn't mean they didn't.
