I don't think so.

The hardest part is finding one to drive in this country.

I can drive a stick, but I have a clutchless one now.  Those are REALLY fun...

I don't know what I would do, without a clutch.

My left foot, would go crazy!

I've been driving a stick, forever.wink

Flan, it is quite common for farm kids to drive at a very early age. Yes 6 is common. By 12, I think, most have a farm license. They can drive into town or do other things locally as long as it is farm related.

At least that is what it is in Kansas, where some of my family are.

Have a cousin who was driving just about anything by 12.

I was driving at 13. But I kept it in the pastures.

And I think SIX sounds incredibly dangerous. Why do we even have laws governing this?

It is just a different way of life in the country.

I bet you wouldn't send a 6 year old to feed the pigs or gather eggs or out in a 40 acre corn field with a sack, a bag of sandwiches, and a .22 either.

But that is what I grew up with.

Would you let your 6yr old help slaughter or butcher an animal? That's not uncommon either on a real working farm, at least it was until the helicopter parents started raising a fuss.

And how many kids died doing dangerous stuff?

I work with 6-year-olds every day.

They do NOT have the skills to make good decisions.

Not many. They were very few and very far between.

You don't understand it cause you were not raised with it. You think it is dangerous for a kid to do just about anything. But believe it or not, kids, even young kids, can work on a farm and be just fine. It's good for them. Builds character and self esteem.

It's ok that you don't understand it.
